when you download a video or film from the itunes store, what format does it come as?

or alternatively, if you download your own films and put them onto your ipod, what format is the best to put them on as?

    Cheers in advance.

.mp4 has always worked best for me. Not sure if it's the best overall though.

Itunes use their protected formate .m4v

whereas if your downloading them elsewhere it's best to convert them to .mp4

    Been looking at this recently...

What is the best software for converting your DVDs to mp4 for your iPod? There are plenty of free ones, but I'm a bit sceptical of installing programmes from untrusted sources on the internet. Anyone downloaded a free one and had no troubles whatsoever?

DVD Decrypter to rip, Videora to put it on your iPod. Both free, work perfectly every time for me.
