Burnt my head, neck, shoulder, & back it was killing walking out of oakwell, but i've since took a few pain killers, had a shower and covered myself in burn ease gel and it's eased up a bit and gone from being really painful to just uncomfortable, but still i'm a bit pissed off, i've only been to a football match and come back looking like i've been to a bonfire, my shirt was stuck to me and both that and my rain jacket and ruined

have you been in touch with the board at Oakwell? You should sue them

I think you will find that fireworks of any sort are banned, so if the security was lax enough to allow them in then you should claim.

I think I saw part of that incident from the back of the Ponty. I said to Ponty72 that I thought somebody had been hit by a smoke bomb. Were you taken out through the Eaststand?

There's certainly very few fireworks on the pitch at the moment.

Was yours the one which didn't seem to give off much dense smoke but more of a thin smoke that rose to the top of the stand fairly quickly? Not that I expect you to have paid too much attention whilst in so much pain

They need to sort it out, things like this is what puts me off going to matches (even more than dire football!), especially on my own.

Re: how did you get burnt at a football match

I could be wrong but I think there was also someone in a red coat went out through the back after the flare/smoke bomb after our goal.

Ben Mansford should be issuing a statement for me saying how disappointed he is with the fans involved and that they are not welcome at Oakwell and also announcing an investigation by the club into how the stewards allowed so many of these objects into the ground and more importantly why both they, and the police failed to do their jobs and act when they stood and watched people throwing these dangerous objects.

I might be being a bit over dramatic but whilever they allow people to bring these in unchallenged Oakwell isn't safe to take kids.

The behaviour of a large minority of so called fans is what keeps me from going to more away games.

Too right. There is no place for idiots who fight, throw things and just generally cause problems at football.

Re: how did you get burnt at a football match

If you were the guy that was taken out through the east stand you looked in a bit of pain, hope you're not too badly burnt. If any one on here knows who threw it should report him as soon as possible, the stupid tw4t should be banned for life, no need for it at a football match. What goes through someones mind at the moment they think, ooooo I'll take a smoke bomb to the match and throw it in the stand, mental. The club and more importantly the police should pull out all the stops to find the thick fcuker and throw the book at him.

Same, I only go to the Leeds away match and that's because my dad will go to that with me (having been a Leeds season ticket holder for many years), and the fact that I live there. I daren't go to away matches.

Me too. The small minority seems to become a larger minority at away games.

Re: how did you get burnt at a football match

I do not want to see everyone walking into Oakwell being frisked (like at the Etihad). More and vigilant stewards would suffice. It's clear which section the flares were being lit in, why not station a couple of stewards nearby or have several near the gangway watching? I was about 3 blocks along and couldn't see who had the flares, but had I moved a block to my right I could have seen who was lighting them.

Could see it from the east stand the guy that was taken out through the east stand came back in not long after and the kid in red looked to be back as well. It hit him on the shoulder and he shifted sharpish - probably to get somewhere to breathe.

    Idiotic thing to bring in.

yeah it went out pretty quick, due to it hitting the frame work and most of the fuse ending up down my back
