BFC on the stones deal. I don't think we could have got too much more. We contracted with him at the right time and £3m plus add ons (if this is what it is) is a good price for a player having played so few games. Maybe held on for a year more and got £5m? True, but what if he suffered a Butterfield style injury next week? We can't afford to take that risk. If we go down it will pay for the loss in revenue. If we stay up then we should have a much better chance next season as I would expect that money will be used towards some decent players. And good luck, John, its been a pleasure to watch someone with such natural talent. If you keep improving you have the ability to make it to the very, very top - not dissimilar to Rio Ferdinand imho.
Re: I've been the first to moan about our ineptitude in the transfer market but well Good comment mate
Re: I've been the first to moan about our ineptitude in the transfer market but well add to the fact that it sounds like the lad forced the issue with a request to leave. despite the stay-away witch-hunters, it was pretty inevitable in the end. other clubs would have got a better deal, but other clubs probably don't have our league and financial situation. it is what it is, and i think he's left a big gap. but we move on, with our finances strong again, to give us a chance to compete.
Re: I've been the first to moan about our ineptitude in the transfer market but well great comments, and dont forget 1 of those add ons is 15% of any future sale
Re: I've been the first to moan about our ineptitude in the transfer market but well Common sense on the BBS alert, completely agree. Would have been nice to keep him for the rest of the season but given that he wanted to go the price paid by Everton is very good indeed.
