This journalism lark is a piece of cake . No wonder Journo Tyke , Ian McMillan and Barry McGuigan have decided to make a career in the business !!
Does this mean I'm Dodworth's answer to Clark Kent ???:pff :pff :pff

Good guess buddy , but wrong .

I was asked by Rob Knowles if I'd be interested in doing a half season report on Barnsley FC for the paper . Ian Appleyard , the Sports Editor , had written to all the Yorkshire clubs asking if they could nominate a fan to do a piece . Rob wondered if I'd be interested .
It's hardly a Pulitzer Prize winner and there are no photographs of half naked women either ! :D

    Here you go

Barnsley have had quite an impressive first half to the season, with the potential of an even better second. Andy Ritchie has put together a winning team, which is also pleasant on the eye.
I have been watching Barnsley since 1968 and cannot remember the last time (if ever) we played such an expansive game with two goalscoring wingers. Also, taking into account the youthful age of the squad, this appears to be the start of a very pleasant journey, rather than it's
    conclusion.
The likes of Reid, Nardiello, Flinders, Shuker, Hayes, Austin, Kay, Richards, Tonge, Jarman, Wroe and Williams are all in their teens or early twenties. Add to that list the likes of Colgan, Carbon, McPhail, Kell, Burns, Hassell and Devaney and we have a nice mixture of youth and experience.
Andy Ritchie and Rick Holden have been like a breath of fresh air to Oakwell, after years of rancid stagnation.

RE: Cant find it - shame

I found a link on the football page but when I clicked on it the page froze, when I tried again the link wasn't there!

Did read the Donny chairman going on about their aim to play in Europe though and how Wednesday bullied their way out of this division! Made me laugh - Donny accusing someone else of bullying!

    ''Rancid stagnation''?

Sounds like a night out with Jay.

And not a single mention of Ladies' breasts.
    Well done that man.

Utter rose tinted rubbish mind :pff
where is the worry about lack of strength in depth, the fact we dont have any decent strikers or a left back.... etc etc

That's what happens in Jay's pants 364 days a year.

Frank will be giving him his Christmas relief.

    Made myself gip

    Oh aye.

I bet it's like dealing with the Singing Detective, who looks like Russell Grant.

If Jay's hair is so massive - I bet his pubes are a wonder to behold.

    Double giptastic.

    Forgot to add

Hero: Martin Devaney - I can't remember the last time we made a signing that had such a refreshing impact.

Villain: No-one, thankfully. Everyone has played their part.

Best moment: The 5 - 2 win over Scnuthorpe United.

Worst moment: Without any shadow of a doubt, the humiliating 5 - 2 home defeat by Doncaster Rovers.

Going up: Barnsley, Huddersfield Town and Swansea.

Going down: Swindon, Rotherham, Blackpool and MK Dons.

Right man in charge?: I think Andy Ritchie has proved that nice men can be successful.

Signings in January: Another central defender and a striker to bolster the squad.

    Finishing position: 1st or 2nd.

Fans from all the other Division 1 clubs

Who have written a column think Barnsley will win promotion , with one exception ( no prizes for guessing which club ! ) .
The Sheffield Wednesday fan is quite convinced The Owls will NOT be relegated ( seriously ! )and that all they need to survive is a Chris Waddle like playmaker and a quality striker .
