and he isn't fast enough anymore

Is there any chance somebody could show a bit of evidence for this and give an example of him chasing a player when you've thought 'blimey 2 years ago he'd have got that' only I don't recall a single example. I mean I know he's not the quickest but I don't remember him ever being the quickest. In fact I don't remember a single person saying it until Keith Hill said it and then a few sheep started repeating it as a fact despite not seeing hassell play at all

First time I ever thought he looked past it was in the Derby home game last season. He was beaten for pace a couple of times. Turns out he'd started the game injured as we were down to the bare bones and simply didn't have any other experienced pros. He had a go but had to come off after half an hour and couldn't play again for the rest of the season. The bench that day was Jones, Clark, Patterson, Rose, Dagnall, Harewood and Alnwick.

I'd go along with that. It's the only time i've ever thought he struggled though I thought he still played well and his reading of the game made up for the injury quite a lot but as he was injured I'll let him off. Other than that game I've never known him struggle more than he did at 25

In Spain, doing the running exercises, he came out on top overall in the myriad of 'tests' the coaches do these days. Went down reight well with the manager apparently.

He's two years older than me. He's an athlete. And if owt, these last couple of years will have helped him in terms of longevity. And even though he's barely played, when he has we've won a lot more than we've lost. His win percentage is rivalled only by Kennedy's. And Kennedy's is boosted by the fact he only played twice under Keith, but played every game of the great escape.

Some stats you can ignore. But not that. It cannot be coincidence that we're better, we win more etc when he's playing. Can it?

Well, I hope that your right and that if he's recalled he plays blinders...But if Danny doesn't play him...well... he'll be the fourth boss to be wary...

Don't get me wrong, Hass is godlike to me also...But there comes a time.

Hassell never had any pace otherwise he would have been in the Premier league. He has been the best all round player- footballer- we have for most of the time he has been with us. Just my opinion like.
Oh and Norman Rimmington agrees with me.

The people who are saying Bobbys past it know FA. Only thing that Bobby should be losing is patience, but that isn't the case, cos Bobby is a top top bloke and very decent professional.

I sincerely hope Danny gives Bobby some game time in the upcoming matches, there's thousands of us that want him to be playing.

I think he simply isn't a Championship level player. Never have and never will.

He hasn't lost any pace he simply never had any.

He is always being caught out of position when he is played at right back simply because he doesn't have pace.

Now if you play him at Centre Half where the ball is coming at him in the air he will do a reasonable job but run at him with the ball and he is left floundering.

All this adulation for him isn't backed up by his playing performances.

Bobby is a legend and has been our most versatile and consistent player over the last ten years. In my humble opinion he still has something to give this season, his legs haven't gone and his experience will be invaluable to us in the second half of the season.

He is only 33 too isn't he? I haven't noticed any deterioration in him. Never been a speedster, but reads the game better than most, great control, tidy passer, good in the air. His stamina might be on the wane slightly so probably couldn't play wingback anymore but ask him to do a defensive job in the centre, or out wide, and he will be solid, and so will the team.

Or in a holding midfield role? Nudge nudge, wink wink?

    Gu on, Danny.
