apart from the issues which have been debated I was incensed by the headline which did gave the impression that Mr Corke was the founder of a fans' forum. Whilst this is true it is a now defunct forum and nothing to do with this forum which was set up in 2005 partly to distance itself from the previous owner. I shall be emailing the chron to advise them of this.

this is the text of my email which I will send after views
Dear Mr Cockroft

I read the article relating to Mr Corke and his court apperance. To say I was disppointed with the headline is a massive understatment. I subscribe to 'Barnsleyfc.org' which was set up in 2005 to distence ourselves from Mr Corke. He has not been involved in the admin of the new site and in fact when he tried to post under a new identity he was removed. Whilst your headline is factually correct it does not state that the forum (barnsleyfc.net)is defunct. In the body of the text it states that he is no longer involved in the forum, but to me the important point is that he was never involved in the current forum and it was his activities that instigated it's formation.

Would it possible to draw the attention of your readers to this fact ?

We don't have to be linked... well I'm certain I'm not going to be !!

was it set up for that purpose though? If the person that set it up was a friend of Tommy Tyke then why would this site have been set up in disgust at him?
Well in 2005 the net site was suspended there was another site set up and CT set up this site. the functionality on this site was better and we went from there. There were plenty of posters who did not want to be associated. So yes I think that the site was set up partly to distance form the old site. Anyway CC has nothing to do with this and I think that should be recognised.

The problem is the Chronicle referred to it as "THE" Barnsley fans forum Surely when people read that they immediately think of this one...?
RE: The problem is the Chronicle referred to it as "THE" Barnsley fans forum Most Barnsley fans don't post on here and wouldn't know the difference between barnsleyfc.org or .net I'm sure that no one will think that everyone/anyone who posts on here has connections with Corke
Dave... If its any consolation I understand exactly where you are coming from and agree.
It is written as though this is a continuation of the old board which it is not. This was a new venture set up by a completely different admin team.
Its like saying if Tesco's at Stairfoot was closed down and then Morrisons bought the building after, then tesco would still be to blame for the price of beans as well.

And i quote: "I resisted for a while, but, unfortunately it got the better of me." Think that spells it all out to be honest.
RE: was it set up for that purpose though? It was set up because there wasn't a site anymore and I was worried I might have to start to do a bit more work rather than read the ****** on here. But for the record, I didn't know him at all then.
He wasn't a founder of anything, Dave.
He snickled in behind his son when it changed address once, that's all. Either hemisled the Chron on purpose or failed to correct them but he's a relative newbie.
