The only way is up for MK Dons, says positive-thinking manager Danny Wilson as his team look to climb the Coca-Cola League 1 table. After escaping relegation only on the final day of last season, they failed to win any of their opening 11 League and Cup fixtures in the current campaign. But the Dons have now lost just one of their last nine outings and are out of the relegation zone following Saturday's 2-1 win at Tranmere Rovers. "To be fair to the team," said Wilson, "we've played pretty well all season even if our results weren't great early on. "We were occasionally letting ourselves down with lack of concentration and we weren't able to finish teams off when we got into terrific positions. "But the results have started to come now and it was a massive win for us at Tranmere - now we have to build on what we've achieved in this recent run." Lack of goals has been a problem for the Dons, so Wilson was delighted to see striker Izale McLeod on target twice in the win at Prenton Park. The manager is hopeful that McLeod will stay at MK despite the interest being shown by a number of clubs in the former Derby County player. "Izale is a major threat to opponents," said Wilson. "He's a terrific prospect and I would obviously prefer to keep him here. "I'm hoping he doesn't go in the January transfer window because he's capable of shooting us a lot higher up the table." Whether or not the 21 year-old striker stays with the club, Wilson is confident that the Dons have a bright future. They are due to start the 2006-07 campaign in an impressive new stadium and Wilson said: "It would be great to go into the new ground on the back of a good season. "We certainly don't want another season like last one, going into our last game with relegation hanging over us. "But that's definitely not the way I'm thinking - in fact I've not been looking at the bottom end of the table, I've been looking at the top six. "Swansea, Southend and Huddersfield have all started the season really well, but they're still catchable. "League 1's very tight and I don't think anyone will run away with it - and there's nobody we fear because on our day we're capable of getting a result against anyone."
My guess: a win agean Bradford and decent draw in the next round and we might be sniffing after Grant Holt at Rochdale in Jan window. their manager not a big fan of tarn for obvious reasons like... I said might.
Should we let Sheff Wednesday judge a player? Leigh Bromby, Alan Quinn and Derek Geary were all released from Wednesday. Not good enough apparently. All playing for Sheff Utd as they challenge for promotion to the prem. Remember how all the wednesday fans got on at Shefki Kuqi? They let him go for nowt to Ipswich who were a league above them, where he scored 30 goals in his 69 starts and now he plays in the prem. They haven't got a clue what a good player is.
Holt, Hayes, Izale and Julian. We were quoted £300,000 last time we enquired about him,in all honesty i wouldnt swap him for Hayes long term but i would swap Izale Mcleod for Hayes,Izale was on loan at the Blades a couple of seasons ago from Derby,i read that Derby only wanted about £50,000 for him but if i am not mistaken they signed Kabba instead who is an almost identical player,Izale is not a natural finisher but his blistering pace creates him loads of chances,a striker who might be in our reach in January is Julian Joachim who knows where the back of the net is and wouldnt cost a lot of money but could possibly be on high wages,
