But no, I just see him as a very good L1 striker who offers pace, a target, a physical presence and goals. Bit disappointed that we didn't sign him last season, instead plumped for Lita, who scored 18 goals fewer in the end. Strange that he's now joining a L2 club, albeit a club who'll be paying a lot of money to him. In fact, that's why we're probably not in for him, he costs money.

Thing is what else do we do, LJ says he only wants players who want to be here, so all targets we had in early summer even if they are willing to sign now why didn't they then and do they really want to be here, we might have been in for your boyfriend at one stage but now he's had his chance should have signed earlier, and if we didn't try signing him earlier in the window why not if all of a sudden he's the type of player we want, this transfer window as been a waste of time for us, just like most are, the club are Fu'cking useless at getting deals done and it's been obvious since May and for years really, every summer we are inundated with post by the likes of you saying we don't need to worry but you're wrong pal we've started the season yet again very light, it's incompetence at the very highest level year after year we Fu'ck about.

No. Every year, between June and July we're inundated with threads from you moaning about our lack of recruitment, and the likes of me tell you not to worry, it's early days etc. But you'll find that this summer in particular, the vast majority of us felt our recruitment wasn't enough, come kick off at Chesterfield, including the manager.

But we've made a decent enough start to the season, and I see us just a few players short of a proper top six pushing squad. From what I can gather, McLeod is a bit of an 'individual', a mercenary and a bad apple (depending on whose opinion you get). So perhaps these things put our club off? He's not young either..

However, as Martin Devaney and Bobby Hassell told us on the radio the other week, sometimes you need a character, a bit of an enigma in the squad, and experience is often vital. So I'd have earmarked McLeod as exactly the sort of striker we ought to be looking at. We were in for Forte who has had similar question marks over him, and even less of a career in terms of goals etc. But that move is said to have fallen through based on finance offered to the player, not a medical as many folk thought. So maybe we're not willing to gamble, pay over the odds to a veteran striker? Can't blame BFC considering the state of Lita 12 months ago.

You can't tell me that we've not failed in the transfer window again, no matter how we've started, we've started season with two out and out strikers and one of them as history of injuries while at the club, it's incompetence . 3 months we've had to get a squad together and not managed it it's ridiculous.

Agreed Whitey. I don't think we've failed at all. We've signed 10 players as well as clearing the decks of players under contract who weren't good enough. There is still 10 days left of the window and my guess is we will sign at least 3 more players, without having to pay inflated fees. We all get a bit frustrated with all the links coming to nothing but we just need to be patient and also judge our recruitment strategy after 10 league games not 3.
