only time I've ever seen him is when we put 5 past him about this time last year...apparently played for England but I can't remember that
Well if it is true I don't see point. A new keeper isn't going to change anything, we could sign Petr Cech and he'd still concede 5 with the defence we've been playing. It's a right winger we need IMO. We're too weak on right when it comes to crosses.
How can we afford him?? Tbf, I'm a big Luke fan but he hasn't been picked for England as yet, never mind the youngest ever. Nor has he been sold for 3.5million. Jack must be somewhat better.
How can we afford him? I think it's different for keepers. From Jack Butland's point of view (and from his parent club) he couldn't get a better move than to join us. We've conceded 22 goals in 8 games in the league. Plenty of practice if he comes to us, wouldn't be surprised if we get paid to take him.
How has Steele gone from one of the top earners and captain to signing reduced terms in the summer and not being able to get a game now? Does anybody think his wage is made up by an appearance fee clause and without appearances he is on no more than Alnwick was on? I can't see how we can afford to have him sat on the bench otherwise.
well mrx we keep getting tonked and all flicker can think of to put it right is get another keeper in, first Pollit and now Butland. What about finding a centre half?, creative midfielder? striker?, changing what everyone else can see is wrong. Steele did ok on Saturday, he couldn't do anything about any of the goals but looks like he is being replaced.
He's brought in 3 new centre halves this summer and we have a plethora of creative midfielders, he just won't play them. We've also got plenty of strikers.
It's clearly another personal issue. He doesn't like Hassell, and similarly, inexplicably, he doesn't like Steele and thus tried to get rid of him in the summer. He doesn't play people where they should play and some players are immune from blame no matter how badly they perform. He's stubborn and he's going to end up out of work as a result. I don't want to see it happen, but I think it's inevitable if he carries on.
Im begning to think that this is the case he wont be the first manager to have issues with certain players and favourites, but the managers who survive are the ones who root out the bad pennies and stick by players who have actual ability and courage. To me, Flitcroft has got it wrong on both accounts and if he gets fired he'll only have himself to blame.
Re: Im begning to think that this is the case The more he says he doesn't pick teams on 'personal' issues the less I believe him.
