Although I have no info as to whether we're after J.L allot of posters on here see it as a backward step and a definate no go signing. After seeing Nardiello sent back and the release of Christenson and Ferenzi I happen to think Jack Lester would be a very good signing as a squad player. He's always scored goals wherever he's played and at 32 years old he could still have allot to offer. He could be our Dean Windass.
He only scored one goal at Doncaster Rovers 12 years ago when he had 11 games for them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Lester
I honestly think if that is the best we can do/afford, we are going straight back to League 1. He's not nor ever has been up to the standard that is a current goalscoring Championship striker. But if thats the budget we have to work to, given supporter apathy, I'll understand.
Hopefully next season they will offer some incentive for supporters to pay up quicker so that they know what money they have available to them.
As far as I'm aware Ferenczi & Christensen haven't been released..... transfer liested yes! The problem with Jack Lester is: 1. Chesterfield would demand a fee, and considering his goal tally last season a substantial one. 2. He's 32 and injury prone. Was always on the treatment table when he was at Sheff Utd 3. Decent goalscoring reputation is lower divisions but never suceeded at higher level. In conculsion I would suggest signing him would be a gamble, and I am not convinced that the board or our manangement staft will be prepared to gamble a few hundred thousand on an injury prone 32year old when you consdier that there are younger/fitter players available who have done it at this level e.g. Stuart Elliot (transfer listed by Wolves, formerly of Sunderland). Still well done Jack top season last season!
Yes, the sooner the club announce a signing that captures the immagination of the fans, the sooner people will get a season ticket and the sooner the club will have cash to strengthen other parts of the team. That's why it's a shame a transfer hasn't been announced yet.
I've said on here before - Lester is playing for Chesterfield because he likes his ale too much. Remember Andy Johnson and how many times he played once Davey found out about his liking for beer!!
Would be no good for us. Proven League 1 striker at best. He'll be 33 years old in October. Is this what we need?
That's a lie ......... I'm ringing my solicitor as we speak ... ...... and ar lass reads this site when she's nowt better to do at work so thanks for that contribution mate - you are now out of my squad for the Blackpool and Newquay trips!!
