Judt been reading online that shepherd will be lining up against us tomorrow, surely that can't be right
Could be wrong, but thought EFL and/or FA brought rules in to the contrary? You can’t play against your Parent club
In premier league they can't, unless its a cup game, so I'm assuming its the same in the EFL. In European competitions they can as long as its agreed upon whilst making the loan transfer
View attachment 21300 According to today's Chronicle he can't play against us. Edit. It seems that a loan player can play against his parent club IF agreed in writing, see below from EFL. Obviously then we haven't given permission.
Very much doubt that’s right. Loan players never play against their parent clubs these days. Not like in the days of Isiah Rankin…..
If he's as error prone as many on here we're claiming then (as well as that making him nearly as error prone as his replacement Mr Earl) wouldn't that mean we'd WANT him in their team?
I'm surprised that's allowed to be honest. Potentially a massive conflict of interests. Jack Shepherd is quite likely to be in line for a significant bonus and pay rise if BFC are promoted. One underhit backpass or misplaced header at a corner could literally benefit him to the tune of multiple thousands of pounds. Just to be clear here, I'm in no way questioning Jack's integrity, but the problem is pretty obvious.
He could also be in line for a bonus if Cheltenham stay up... But, seeing as he was getting stick for mistakes earlier in the season, it might benefit us for him to play...
No matter, it will be our fault if he plays against us and we'll get fined and docked points for it. EFL rules now include the phrase, "It's always Barnsley's fault." Oh and an extra three game ban for McGeehan and Colchester stubs invalid for ever and ever.
True. But realistically it's unlikely to be anywhere near the financial reward he'd get for success at BFC.
