And if so how much could you see us getting for him and which club do you see him joining?

Personally i can see him leaving in January rather than the club risk whatever a tribunal would offer in the Summer.I can see him going to somewhere like Southampton for a fee around £1million which i feel has been boosted by his inclusion in the recent England Under 21's squad. Just my personal take on this.

You should put this thread in your favourites to see who's closest to guessing correctly by the end of next month. I'd say he's going to Wolves for a million.

McCarthy to steal again - tribunal for £400,000. Sat next to Hammill during the 1st team games but driving around Birmingham in a Ferrari with a bird containing more plastic than his dashboard.

Ps l hope he stays though and he's happy with his mini once his ban is up.

No. End of season. 400k compo.

Edit - that is if we don't go up, which we will obviously.

Dunno if he'll go in January or the end of the season

Can't see us getting more than a couple of hundred thousand for him. Which is nowhere near enough.

It saddens me how underrated he is on here. Best prospect that's come through our youth system since David Hirst.

If we can get over £1.5million for him we should sell if not I'd say we hang on to him
he needs to perform inthe second half of the season or no prem sides will be interested and if we are sniffing around the playoffs it might concentrate his mind a bit
if he continues to develop as the season progresses I'd hope we would get more than the 400K mentioned above - if he doesnt then fair enough

wonder if we can persuade him to sign a contract with a 2million escaple clause

I'd take that. That would be cracking value for someone who's only been consistantly good for four months.

    £1.5 mill ??????????????????

Half a season left on his contract, and only really half a season of top performances.

Stand by to be heavily disappointed.

Hope we can keep him, but I think he'll go.

    It will be undisclosed.

Yes, to the highest bidder, the amount at a guess between 1/2 to a mil£.

I sincerely hope not as I think he is doing grerat for us at the minute and can continue to be one of the most important players in the team, we havent had a midfielder like him since we lost Howard and in my opinion he will be very hard to replace.

However being a realist I think he will be leaving in Jan, but as one poster has said already I just have feeling it will be to a so called 'Bigger' championship team rather than a Prem side - Leeds for instance - Glyn Snodin was on Radio Dee Dar the other night and knew a lot about Butterfield when asked about him..and i know its his job to - but I just have a nagging feeling.

As for the fee? well prob around £500k to £750K is probably realistic for a player with only 6 months left on his contract.

The club gets a lot of blame for things but I think on this one there hands are tied to some extent - perhaps Jacob should have been signed up last season , but Robins didnt seem to rate him.

I don't want to see him go because of how well he is doing for us but the fact is, as was discussed on here yesterday I think, as a club we 'only' lose c.£750k p.a. so if we could get that for Butterfield and put us into profit for the year the fact of the matter is we can't afford to turn it down even though it would serve him better for his footballing development to stay here playing every week for at least another year but its very hard to turn down someone offering to triple your wages too.
