Nowt to do with the fact he's playing on the right wing then? Remember the $hit Wiseman kopped (me included) when he was out of position?

Good to know nowt changes. 1 league game and a glorified friendly (League Cup 1st round) and players are getting written off left, right and centre.
Fantastic player on his day but can be completely anonymous at times. Too inconsistent to step up in class to the premier league IMO.
Had a bad day at the office on Tuesday. Every player in our team will have more than one this season. They shouldn't be written off because of it. On the plus side, good to see our manager recognise it wasn't Mellis' night and withdraw him early. It didn't change the result, but we completely dominated the game after that substitution. Up until that point there was nothing between the two teams. Bad night for one of our players, good tactical decision from our young manager.
Mellis has class, but he is still very inconsistent. Some games he completely dominates and looks like a Premiership player. However, If he hasn't done anything in the first 20 mins, you may as well sub him off, because chances are it won't get any better.
He's definitely a confidence player. If he starts poorly I get the impression his head goes down and he gets frustrated and can become anonymous. On a good day though (and there were many of them towards the end of last season) he's pivotal to our success. I'd like to see assist stats because I suspect he will top these. Most of the creativity and invention comes through him and when we play 3-5-2 with two relatively deep laying centre midfielders it's essential that he performs well. I'd like to see him notch a few more as well. My issue with Butterfield prior to his upsurge in form was that he didn't score enough goals. All of a sudden he started taking pot shots from 30 yards and looked a real threat. I'd like to see them same from Mellis.
He didn't get in the game enough on Tuesday and often got crowded out. I'd like to see a bit more movement from him so Perkins and Dawson can pick him out in space more often. If he's got the ball at his feet 30 yards out, you feel like somethings going to happen. The trouble is getting him in that position in the first place when he's being man marked.
1 league game into the season and I've seen perkins, golbourne, Dawson, Mellis, Dagnall all completely written off on here. It is getting a bit pathetic.
Don't forget McNulty, Steele and Flicker's tactics...I personally blame the shirts and texture of the pies...
