If that's true regarding is earnings then I don't think the club could do much more tho to be honest it must be hard for any player to turn down the chance to join a premiership club

Another story taken from rumours on this site.

Notice that wasn't a quote from him - Just a little added editorial creativity.

Let's face it, if he moves to premiership club in January, he will be a bench warmer and will more than likely end up back in the championship next season.
If he's any sense (which I don't think he has) then he will sign a new contract and continue his development, which is going very well, here.

Agreed even if it's just a 12 month contract, he's still young enough to get a premiership club

Sign a short contract and see how we progress this season, if he leaves in the summer we get a new scoreboard for him.

Why not offer a rolling contract to our star players, say a 1 year rolling contract over a 3/4 year period?

I'm not that bothered if Butters goes......BUT we need the right money for him

...........if he goes for next to nowt like the others have done then I'll be more than disappointed
Its about time Barnsley stopped being the equivalent of footballs 'Pound Land'

    Shackell 1M
    Howard 500k
    Hammill 600k
    McIndoe 250k

For the sake of about 2.5m and with Hillflicker in charge we would be in the top 2 this season.

Keef handled it well on the interview. None of this 'we'll sell if the price is right etc etc', just said it's not Butterfield's decision to leave - under contract til next Summer so won't be going unless Keef says so.

so if Jacob gets an offer he definately wants to take up..

its still up to Mr Hill to sanction it...that could end up turning sour on us in a huge way.

    And soon forgotten

He's not mobile enough for the Premiership. Gets to see a lot of the ball in our team of battlers, so not surprisingly looks like he can pick a pass, at times. Takes a decent free kick, 1 in every 5. Fair enough, he's improved this season, but so has Steele, Foster and O Brien. Good luck to him and his agent if he manufactures a move on good money but he'll be back at this level in a blink of an eye.

Your ability to spot a good player is almost on par with tyrone's.

ask Hammill about that one. Jacob will do what he must, thats life. The one thing he must not do is to end up in later life saying to himself "what If"... and that decision applies to either going or staying.

He goes he could be ending up like Hammill a second string bench warmer..nice salary but its now Adam Who?

He stays and hopefully develops further, Lights up the championship, perhaps helps take Barnsley to higher levels. THEN he makes the move, more experienced ,wiser, more battle hardened...more savvy...commanding perhaps an even better deal for all concerned.

But as I say I just hope he makes what turns out to be the correct decision....for Him, Barnsley Football club must make the best of whatever that then entails.

That he's been offered four times his salary they probably got off here the other day. If someone wants to offer him around 20k a week that's stupid. It's another pathetic sign of where football has gone, when someone can have four good months in their job and then be on a million a year just like that. Don't see how it's a crossroads of his career either. He's a young lad with plenty of time to play in the premiership. It's not like now is his one and only chance before retiring, as long as he keeps playing the way he is.

You reckon he'll be on 5k a week now? On the contract he signed 18 months ago when he wasn't laiking?

He might've been offered 10k a week absolute tops.

Did someone on here say we had offered him a new contract worth 4 times more than he's on now? its on about his contract from us not a Premiership team. He won't be near the top earners at the club with his current contract.
