Article in today's Chronicle from Hassell saying they are in talks with Jalo about extending his contract, and hoping for a decision this window. Also speaks of getting a more physical centre back in. https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/a...rt-in-defence-while-reds-expect-jalo-decision
McCarthy, Cundy, de Gevigney, Lopata, Shepherd... Do we trust whoever is recommending these players to get us another? Personally, I'd be asking the manager who he wants.
I'd personally play Lopata and move Williams out to right back or sell him and play Cotter or O'Keefe at right back. As an aside we've got chance to get some players off the wage bill without effecting the spine of our team.
Shepherd needs loaning out, McCarthy & Cundy need moving on ASAP. Hopefully Jalo signs a new deal, but we need to start giving him more game time.
Interesting read. Especially about the bit about Jalo needing 10-15mins to get going. I trust Hassell to do the right thing anyway.
Agree with most of that mate, but let’s not sell our best right back in Williams, would sooner move Okeefe on tbh
I was thinking about it from a non footballing perspective. If he isn't going to sign a new deal and we're as skint as its made out why wouldn't we sell?
By taking Williams out of that back line, you’ve lost all EFL experience and also his pace. I think the January signing will address that - as well as physicality.
Pointless to use him for the last 15-10 mins of a game, interesting comments from Hassell. “It will come to a stage where the manager has to decide whether he starts some games. He does take ten or 15 minutes to get going, he’s always been like that."
He's 17 clubs are looking to buy him to develop as "potential" he's not the finished article by any means. I doubt it will effect anything. Some of our strikers don't get going at all in 90 minutes and their in there peak of career mid 20s.
What an absolute legend Bobby is. At this moment in time, I can’t imagine there’s a better equipped candidate for DoF on the planet, than him.
I was about to post something similar. This is what leapt out at me from this article. We know he takes 15 minutes to get going every game, but we keep bringing him on for less than this.
Nowt against Bobby.. but it's foolish to get sucked in by sentiment. Can he do the job is the question.. Is he any good at negotiations? An easy ride interview with the Cron means nothing really. Talking too and making deals with agents and players, those already here and those in the pipeline. Is he any good at that? Probably thee most important job at the club bar head coach.
