Jamal Campbell-Ryce says his recent penalty misses have not deterred him from taking Barnsley's spot-kicks..

The Jamaica international has missed twice from the spot in recent weeks against both Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United.

However, he has now told skysports.com that as long as his team-mates have faith in his ability he will step forward when the Tykes next win a penalty kick.

"I wouldn't shirk away from it and taking responsibility for putting the ball in the back of the net is important because every action is vital for the club," he said.

    Confidence
"I wouldn't turn my back on taking another one and as long as the lads have still got confidence in me sticking it away then I will gladly step up to the mark."

The Tykes only managed to secure a single point from their Easter weekend programme against Watford and Swansea and the former Southend winger believes Tommy Smith's late equaliser for The Hornets has taken the wind out of their sails.

"We had a look at the two games before and we felt we could get something out of both of them," he continued.

    Deflating
"To concede so late on after taking the lead at Watford was really deflating and conceding so early in the Swansea game cost us because they never looked back after getting their noses in front.

"It is disappointing that we didn't get more from those two games, but we have to put that behind us and dig deep to put points on the board from our last four fixtures.

"We need to start grinding out the results till the end of the season because every game is important to us now."

Not sure SD said he wouldn't take one... only JCR agreed to step down & let someone else have a go!

....... and when asked the question, he's not gonna say on SSN "no, i'm scared, I'll never take a penalty again". I'd expect him to say what he said.....

If he goes anywhere near another penalty kick ....

.... he wants kicking in the balls by the rest of the team, and so do the management team
