They were saying not to take that cheap flight abroad

    Bloody rubbish.

The plane will still go whether I'm on it or not, if I drive to the airport and then leave my car there for 2 weeks whilst I go on holiday, then I'm polluting less than if I'd stayed at home and drove to work and back for those 2 weeks!

    and besides

how does encouraging people to have their big screen TV's on all day to watch the concert help in reducing emissions?

all this global warming/climate change bieng put down to carbon footprints,co2 emmisions is completet ******,no one can prove that to be the reason without question,no one,its just the natural cycle of the earth,if that wasnt the case then dinosours and cavemen must have had 4x4's and long haul flights etc when we came out of the last ice age ffs.Not so long back there was a program on telly that depicted what the british isles looked like thousands of years back and most of it was under water, them pesky cavemen and there polluting eh!!

    Exactly

At the moment, we are still in what geologist class as a glacial period. That is to say that there is still ice at both poles. There are periods in the earths history where the poles were ice free. The only reason rising sea levels would be a serious problem now is due to population density. There is next to nowhere for people displaced by rising sea levels to go.

Going to Qawra, been to Malta before and loved it.
Its a place where you love it or hate it.
The locals love the Brits, we are the only ones ever to have been invited to invade the Island. Went to wqatch a couple of matches last time, Chris Bart Williams was playing out there. The standard was better than I thought but the pitches are dire.

    I wouldn't say it's a con

Undoubtedly man is having an effect on the planet, we can't keep consuming resources the way we have been doing and with India and China becoming more industrialised and commercialised the problem will increase much quicker.
But it needs corporations to be changing more than individuals - it's better if companies don't use as much packaging rather than saying we should recycle it....better not to use it in the first place.
I've heard people say that they are doing more to recycle and save resources because they put more out to recycle than a neighbour, well if the neighbour isn't using as much in the first place that is better! I know, I'll buy a copy of every single newspaper tomorrow just so I can recycle them all!

Been twice - last time stayed on Gozo. As you say the locals are the friendliest people you'll ever meet. On Gozo there were houses with 'God Bless England' written on the outsides. Personally, I love Malta, it's the most relaxing place I've ever been. Have you read 'The Malta Convoy'? True story about how, during the WWII, Malta was allied and key to us being able to maintain North Africa. The Nazis wanted Malta for the same reason. So the Nazis blockaded Malta and bombed the hell out it. Tried to starve the Maltese into submission. This is before the Americans entered the war. The Royal Navy managed to pull together a convoy of ships (including one of the fastest oil tankers in the world at that time 'Ohio', bought on tick from the yanks) together with provisions of food and fuel and ran the blockade of Italian and German ships and planes. Enough got through to save the island from falling. The oil tanker was so low in the water by the time it arrived in Valetta that is sank completely within hours of the contents being removed. There are photos of everyone in Valettta waiting for the ships to arrive, willing them into port. A really inspiring story. They were really getting the **** kicked out of them by German planes, they had kids starving, but they still told Adolf to f@@k off. Brilliant people.

    I love Malta. (Y)

Not read that mate but I will

Malta is not for everyone, its noit like Spain and thats one of the reasons I love it. So relaxing.
Went across to Gozo lovely little island.
Best bit about Malta is the old buses, I love them. We went all rouind the island, never knew where we were going until a bus I liked came into the bus station
