They all played well including Bree. I'm sure he will be a very player but tonight was hardly a baptism of fire having to deal only with Laird compared with the Chesterfield winger.
Could see him lining up for England in about 4 years time alongside John Stones. Wouldn't that be something?
I'm blaming mason holgate for exactly none of what has gone on. Sincerely hope he goes on to have a great career at the highest level or at least the level he is good enough to hit, not sure any of us know that yet. It's not his fault he's had folk in his ear telling him he's cafu and worth billions, he's barely out of nappies so he's bound to buy into it and whilst I see a need for the role of an agent at the top level, I don't see why a kid who's played a dozen division three games couldn't be represented by the pfa. Somebody who would look out for his actual needs and best interests over the need of either buying or selling club and without having to force a move for personal financial benefit. Good luck to him
Has the potential to be a Premier League player but needs to stop daydreaming when he hasn't got the ball.
Agreed, good luck to him. As far as I can see he's done absolutely nothing wrong. We agreed a contract with him and then tried to renegotiate it a few months later (as is our right) and he said no (as is his right). We have to remember that the club obviously wanted to renegotiate and tie him down because they realised how good he was and how much pitentia he had so it would be stupid to think that he didn't also see it. Barnsley fc is an employer to him as he is an employee to them. We have released countless loyal commited players when we have decided they are no longer wanted or needed so expecting a player to show us immense loyalty when they feel they have an opportunity to further their career elsewhere is nothing short of hypocritical in my opinion. Treat long serving players (and none playing staff) with loyalty and THEN you can start complaining that players aren't showing loyalty back.
If Bree is the next to leave, next summer for example, so be it. Our 'resale value' system is meant to work in this way. Bring in money for the club, improve the team, academy, bring more quality players through, sell them, keep the club sustainable. As long as we bring in a fair amount, I, and I'm sure others on here, will be happy with the strategy
Tha puddled. The major difference here is the fact that Mason Holgate refused to sign a new deal which is fine but then proceeded to say that he would not play and wanted only light training to avoid injury. When it seemed no club actually wanted him his agent then told the club he'd sit it out for 12 months then go abroad so we got nothing. If that's the same as the club releasing players who are no longer capable of playing at the level they are at then I'm in a different world.
Holgate refused to play and has essentially says he will spend the next years refusing to play and refusing full training? That's news to me
His agent told the club that if he couldn't move he would make sure he moved abroad so we got nothing. Mason Holgate instructs that fella. He instructs or agreed for his agent to use that approach to force him a move. In my view he is therefore blameworthy. That's a shocking attitude to show towards a club that not only nurtured you but gave you a second chance. Anyway, we move on.
