Could go either way this one. Real potent striker in his day but he's had recent problems with injuries which might have taken the edge off his explosive qualities. Potentially a shrewd signing if he can stay fit and he captained Ipswich so that would indicate he's a good personality around the squad and younger players. If he does sign, let's hope he's more John Hendrie than Leroy Lita.
Ipswich Town FC: Andy Warren on James Norwood's release | East Anglian Daily Times (eadt.co.uk) Sounds like a character. We could do with a few of those at Oakwell!
31 years old, 5ft 9, scored 26 in 77 app for Ipswich, 82 in 165 at Tranmere before that. Article refers to him having “three eventful seasons fragmented by injuries and off-field drama.” while at Ipswich
At 31 and recent injuries it’s gotta be a 1 year deal right? Maybe a 1 plus 1 option. Sounds risky otherwise.
From what I know he is fairly pacey and had a really really good stint at Tranmere which is why he ended up at Ipswich but just didn't seem to work out for him there (not sure why) fallen down the pecking order with them.
https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=51911&season_id=154 2 goals in his last 17 games and 31 years old. Doesn't look like the type we'd go for. I will wait and see what Adam Oxley says first
His driving ban up yet? He got done for drink driving in the last couple of years. Think Tranmere are hoping to get him back.
It also says despite all that he arguably remained Towns best striker. And got a goal every 180 minutes for town. Good record for this level for sure.
Stats can be used in different manners as an example yours looks awful but below actually looks good. Played 23 times in league last season, only started 12, of those was subbed in 9 of them but still got 6 goals. Just over 1000 minutes played which equates to just over 11 matches. So worse case 1-4, best case 1-2. His scoring record with a career average of 1-3 shows he can score goals at a lower level, which should beg the question why was he told by Ipswich twice last year he had no future?
He’s got experience and goals at this level and sounds like a leader type with a bit of edge to him .
This could be an absolute master stroke. Guessing he'll be on a one year deal, so seems pretty low risk.
