On Radio Dee Dar he came across as a right arrogant you know what. He then had the gumption to say he didn't fancy joining a club who were fighting relegation. His point on relegation maybe justified but, coming from a league two club I think it's a little cocky to say the least.
Ooops.. try again. He had to say that Cos reading between the lines he wanted more money than we were offering. Davey said that he offeredhim bonuss for appearances and goals scored so if he hit that his wage would be decent. He turned that down.. Obviously no faith in hissen
RE: Ooops.. try again. He had to say that Is it not easy to just say a deal could not be reached. Job done...
or no faith in our squad? Maybe he looked at our current squad and at our strikers and thought to himself ok odejayi was scoring for fun before he signed for barnsley, cureton has always banged them in, macken used to know where the net was, christensen did nothing at barnsley then went and scored quite a few as soon as he left, ferenczi scored hardly any in his last year then went and scored loads at his new club, rigters used to score now cant hit the net. Maybe it's not the strikers? Maybe its the midfield not creating chances or the manager not employing the right strikers. He might have faith in his OWN abilities but not in the abilities of Simon Davey to pick a team capable of setting him up with enough chances to hit the targets and get a bonus
he didn't sign because we didn't offer enough money now move on instead of manufacturing any of your typical negative fantasies.
"Obviously no faith in hissen" I didn't realise that nomad's post was locked. I was under the impression that we were allowed to reply to him with our viewpoints. Next time i'll pm you to ask permission.
I may be wrong but I get the distinct impression that Sheffield United are doing their best to rub our noses in it at the moment. Last night Blackwell made a point of saying that Ward wanted "...to come to a big club with ambition" and then Ward himself makes a completely unnecessary comment about a supposed relegation dogfight tonight (although this might be simply an excuse to refute the accusations that he's just a greedy tw*t) Perhaps I'm reading too much into it but you can't help feeling that the already strained relationship between the two clubs is not going to be reduced if they keep taking sideswipes at us.
Look, he's not a Barnsley fan, he doesn't owe us anything, so in all honesty he'd be pretty stupid to sign for us when he can join a bigger and more successful club, and for what I expect are far greater wages, and the possibility of being part of a Premiership squad next season. The only reason to slate him is because you're upset he turned us down and signed for a local rival. If I was offered a far superior wage to go and teach at a better school..............what do you think I'd do?
So someone is telling porkies, Davey says both sides were miles apart on contract talks Ward says, quite rightly in my opinion, he didn't fancy a relegation battle so he didn't sign. The choice people is yours to make.
Did ward or his agent say anything of the sort when the deal fell through did they **** Money money money Sheff U have simply got more of it than us especially since the Beattie sale, now that is an undisputable FACT and they are more prepared / equipped to take a risk than us.
That's not the point I was making. I'm simply saying that I get the impression United are being deliberately antagonistic. Ward might turn out to be a world-beater and he might not, and he may or may not be earning more with them than he would with us, all I'm saying is I don't see why he has to make stupid comments about "...not wanting to be in a relegation dogfight". Unless they are just trying to wind us up. In my case it's obviously worked!!
