Simple thread of who you think/want to be sold and then players/positions you'd like us to see bring in.
Can see Marc Roberts being sold. Bigger clubs chasing him and not getting much football here. Hourihane to be sold. Smith, Pearson and Wilkinson to go back to parent clubs. Reckon Pearson could be shipped back out to a bigger club. Can also see Simeon Jackson being released unless he plays and plays well against Blackpool and Millwall. Also think Wabara could leave. Anything could happen with Johnson and Mansford regarding in comings.
No ins until LeeJay has gone. It would be shambolic if we let Johnson loose with any money. A new manager please. Sent from mi bloody iPhone
Get rid: Wabara, Nyatanga, Jackson, Mawson, Townsend, Watkins and Phenix. Plus all the loanees. Bring in: Keeper, 2 CBs- 1 tall & commanding and 1 experienced, an experienced full back, a CDM, a winger that runs at defences and gets balls in, 2 strikers- 1 tall and 1 pacey. Give the likes of G.Williams, Templeton and Harry White more of a chance.
With that sort of turnover, and no pre-season to get them gelling then League 2 would be just about nailed on for next season, especially with the current Head Coach.
How ling is a piece of string type question? We recruited badly in the summer. LJ has worst managerial record in history at Oakwell but remains in post. Who actually signs the players rumour has it not LJ? What I don't get is why did we bother signing Connor Wilkinson, Michael Smith, Simeon Jackson, Dan Crowley and Joe Rothwell. They all arrived with big reputations but were not given a fair run in the side. One thing we have been good at this year is knocking player confidence. Wilkinson scores on his debut then gets dropped. Roberts and Bree playing well then frozen out. Even goalkeeper Davies was dropped for an unproven youngster Townsend Unpopular decision that did do either keeper any favours. We make statement regards recruitment pre season stating we want to reduce number of loanees. But we panicked and signed 10 by christmas. To many short term deals. To many loan players. Inbalance of youth over experience. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING!!!
But in all seriousness, there are to many variables to be able to predict what will happen in the next 4-5 weeks... With LJ still be in charge? Will John Stones be sold this window and provide a cash boost? Will we sell any assetts e.g. Hourihane, Mawson etc? Will short term contracted players and loanees extend deals or go?
Let most of the loanees go (Smith, Wilkinson, White..?) but keep Pearson around. See if there's anything better tham Wabara, Jackson and Long available. Sign a grizzled league one veteran in defence and one in attack, maybe bring another winger in Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hopefully will be roughly this 11 with subs for the 2nd half of the season: Davies Bree Roberts New CB Smith R.Williams Scowen Hourihane Hammill Winnall New ST New GK New CB G.Williams New CM New RM H.White New ST
sad thing is we need a rebuild come January, the reluctance for the club to properly invest is showing in the league position. January is a time where you make minor alterations add a tad more depth. We are having to rebuild like its July Club is in a mess end of
Didn't see that coming. Out: Wilkinson Smith Phenix Wabara (providing we have someone better lined up) Extend loans: Pearson White Long (dependent on whether Wigan was just a blip) In: Target man Experienced centre midfielder capable of playing in a 2 Right back
Isn't Ramage available? Could double up as coach perhaps? Him and Roberts at the back would work well. 2 towering people at the back.
First things first I'd like the manager out. I've seen Davies, Townsend, Roberts, Mawson, Watkins & Wabara get worse as the season progresses. I've also seen Nyatanga, Scowen, Winnall, Pearson & Smith perform poorer than last season. And all of them except Nyatanga are at an age where they should be improving. Most of them are proven performers at this level as well. I'd love to see what performances a competent manager could get out of them before making wholesale changes.
Looking at recent squads, it doesn't appear that Jackson will be here after the new year window. Also Wilkinson severely slipped down the pecking order and Smith doesn't seem to have done enough. So i suspect a striker will be a target. Andy White seems to have settled in and as he gets more match fit looks like a decent acquisition. I think Wabara will stay to the end of the season. If Isgrove stays i think we need another stronger, more experienced Midfielder.
