...still no confirmation of contracts for Davies, Steele, Done etc and Cwyka & Cranie will get into their last 6 months. Leadership required. Immediately. We've not invested in a scoreboard because it's capital investment. Does that mean we're not investing in contracts too because of the 'takeover'?
I'm really hoping we hear something this week Dyson. I would like to know whats happening. We need a bit of luck of the field and with the players coming back i think we'll be fine.
There'll be no takeover in my opinion. Hope I'm wrong, or at least we allow new ideas and money onto the board. January is a wateshed for BFC in all areas - it'll give us all a good idea of where the club is being taken.
It needs to get sorted as quickly as possible if you ask me. No matter if these players don't sign a new contract we need to keep them till the end of the season because we will go down if the squads best player are allowed to leave.
It's the same board that oversaw me spend 8 pounds more than 500 or so Hudds fans on Saturday. Do they even know what day it is? Davies is gone, Steele is highly likely to go, and Hassell isn't going to get a 10th year and a testimonial. Cywka and Done, not arsed. Very similar. Soft as ****. Play when they want. Cranie will sign.
I think Cywka could be a great player for us. Right age and all that. Big PR disaster if we don't give Bobby a testimonial so he won't get one.
On a personal level I know a few I go with on a Matchday wouldn't renew if we went down. Money as much as pride, so would be worse day out for it too.
I'm really looking forward to Gillingham, Yeovil & Sheffield United away. Good days out them. No doubt in my mind that if we don't keep Davies January we'll go down. If we keep him and keep building slowly we'll stop up.
This recent run has proved they can't sell Davies in January. Would have next summer to find a replacement then should he then move on. £6m drop in revenue is hardly going to be covered by selling him, we wouldn't get £1m even.
They can and will sell him. The fact is that the club is rudderless waiting for a takeover that is looking increasingly unlikely. And a consequence of that is that our best two players are not getting new contracts even discussed which means they will be free to leave in Jan.
I agree, I can think of several more appropriate words. Takeover or not I can't believe that owners current or new would not want out two best players (Davies and Steele) on the books. Also agree about Hassell, it will be a PR disaster if they dont give him a tenth year and why shouldn't they? He's still good enough for the squad and the first team in a lot of people's opinions.
I'm not particularly against them not renewing his contract. 32 in the Summer, not played/started a high % of games so would he want to stay and just sit on the bench? What I would do though is even if we don't offer him a new deal is offer him a testimonial game regardless.
I think he believes he is still good enough and has something to offer the club and I agree with him however I'm not sure Keith does. If he doesn’t get an extended contract I think your idea of arranging a testimonial regardless is the least the club can do for him.
