Who stays and who goes at Oakwell.... My wish list: Out: Lee Johnson, Naytanga, Wabara, all loanees returned. In: New Manager, Centre back x2, Fullbacks x1, Deep lying midfielder x 1, Targetman x1, Poacher x1 Injury prone or not George Waring would be on that list, gave more playing though injury that this lost put together. I'd even be happy to have Nardiello as a squad player to come on late in games and offer goal threat. We don't currently have that option on the bench. Mawson and Naytanga combo does not work, has to be one or the other. Seems strange to say but I feel Mvoto would have done a job this season alongside them. Then again so would Roberts in the muppet picked him.
Here's what will happen. We'll send Wilkinson & Smith back to Bolton & Swindon. Wabara & Jackson will sign deals to the end of the season. We'll bring another young striker in on loan and extend Toney's spell. Pearson will go back to Man Utd. We'll sign Kelly from Oldham (or someone similar). Long & White will extend their loans until the end of the season. And that's it IMHO. Basically, we just need to get to the end of this season in this league and then plan again - sacking him makes absolutely no sense at all. Considering how many people will potentially leave us, it's a better the Devil you know situation with keeping the group together rather than trying to start again completely.
You forgot the bit about where following that game plan by three quarters way through the season there won't be even a full complement of season ticket holders present let alone many week to week attendees
There will be people there - it's getting **** but we still get good attendances. I think if we stick to that plan then we'll stay up which will see people continue to come. I wouldn't be so confident if we sacked him & then brought in a load of players again.
Problem is Johnson doesn't appear to have a plan. Stick with him and it will be league 2. Wabara is dreadful... Kelly is not the answer... Mawson and Naytanga cannot form a parnership but he pesists with them... Smith, Wilkinson, Jackson and White all have pedegree but haven't been afforded game time, or a run of games. Unlike out of form Winnall... Add to that Bree, Roberts and our home grown talent who appear to have been frozen out. The plan was to develop Youth and reduce loans... In reality LJ has ignored our own youth system, relied on panic loan signings 10 in total many who have failed to take off... Isgrove, Wilkinson, Smith, Rothwell, Long, Pearson, Harris, Townsend, White and Toney... These lads won't have come cheap, but have we had value for money?
Sacking him makes no sense ? The daftest thing i've heard for a long time!!!!!! If we get to the end of the season with this loser at the helm then prepare for League 2. Does that make any sense ? Deary me !!!!
Do we really need Jackson, cant understand why we gave him a contract in the first plaice, summat fishy abart that bit of business.
A GOOD defensive midfielder who will stop the runners, tackle players and mark people too. It would be worth spending half a million on one because of the money would save elsewhere
So other than a young loanee striker and Liam Kelly, we'll do nowt else? But aren't you saying in another thread that the strategy set by his superiors has failed and that now he'll get January to rectify it, and deserves that chance? Talk of experienced laikers and such. But you reckon he'll not do? Or are you saying he won't be allowed to? Not having a go, genuinely interested.
I've not seen or heard transfer gossip for the upcoming window, whether they be permanent or loan deals.
I don't think we'll get the opportunity to do lots - you've got to consider that come the 4th January we're currently standing to lose: Wabara Smith Wilkinson Jackson Pearson Isgrove Toney Long White Half of our team from Saturday. So - you've two options: 1. Let them all go & try to replace all 9 with others. 2. Let some go (like Smith/Wilkinson/Isgrove), use that cash to bring in some experience & try to keep the rest. I think he'll go for option 2 because it's the most sensible one. You're not going to be able to bring in 10 players better than the ones we have in January - everyone will know we need them, prices will be bumped & I don't think we'll spend a massive amount. I think we'll spend something on the right ones like we did with Hammill & then hope they bring the others up to the required level. When I say January to rectify it, that's what I mean - not a complete overhaul. I think he'll try to keep: Long White Wabara Pearson Toney I think Pearson will tell us to *****, the rest will be allowed to go & we'll have the opportunity to bring in 4 experienced ones if the others agree to stay.
There is a third option which is the only option that matters. Get rid of Johnson and allow someone else to decide who stays or who goes!!! Having said that according to some LJ is not in charge of recruitment anyway!!! Lets just get rid and start the New Year with a bit more hope and passion
Be interesting to know if they will be Johnson's choices or the transfer committee's choices. Hopefully Johnson will be long gone by January
