Spotted an established Japanese Knotweed plant growing out of the railway bridge on Oakwell Lane, with other clusters growing nearby. Some near the football ground too but not on club land. Is it worth reporting or is it just everywhere these days? Bit worried about it growing out of the masonry on the railway bridge as historically it's been known to cause damage to structures.
Always report knotweed.. doesn't matter whose land its on.. To report Japanese knotweed to the council, email neighbourhoodservices@barnsley.gov.uk or call 773555.
Joking aside. We had it all over our garden. Wrapped itself everywhere. Consumed the shed and went over the fence into the next street. We received a letter threatening legal action. We passed it onto our landlord and moved.
Japanese knotweed won't qualify for a work permit under post-brexit rules so will never be seen in a Barnsley shirt
It was noted for it's hardy properties and actually planted along railway embankments in the UK to assist with the stability. They didn't realise how invasive it was. I pulled out of a house purchase in town when it was discovered on the full survey I had done.
