If you want to poke fun at the Island, I think this is better ammunition. I went to uni in 93 and anyone I told that I lived on the Isle of Wight said "is that the island that just got an escalator." In that year BHS opened in Newport and brought with it the first escalator ever in the history of everything to the Island and it was national news. I kid you not. oooh magic steps. Some people surprisingly have never left the Island for anything in their entire lifetime and even more scary, some people have never left their local town. The Island is 6 ft wide and some people have never seen its capital coz it's too far away. Everything is actually 4 minutes on foot. I will be an outsider forever as will my children and their childrens children. If I have any. I love it there though. Not much crime and murder is still shocking front page news.
I've never been, but I've seen it From the beach at Bournemouth. I didn't like the look of it, so I kept away.
