Barnsley winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce could be heading out of the Oakwell exit door in the January transfer window after reportedly storming out of the Keepmoat Stadium after being dropped for the 1-0 win at Doncaster on Saturday. Campbell-Ryce has started just two of new manager Mark Robins eight games in charge despite being a regular under former boss Simon Davey. The Jamaican international started the previous game- the 2-1 win over Ipswich but was totally omitted from the squad on Saturday, as were other Davey regulars Martin Devaney and Rob Kozluk. On being told of his omission it is reported Campbell-Ryce immediately left the stadium and when quizzed by a number of supporters it is alleged he replied that the manager (Robins) didn't like him and he didn't like Robins.
If fit JCR has to play. Halfredesson isn’t an option on the wing from what we saw on Saturday. Has to be Hammill and JCR every time if where playing 4-4-2. JCR is our best winger once he regains his confidence which was drained by Davey, he just needs games to figure out what’s required from playing in the position again. Thanks again Wavey Davey by the way for ruining his as a player.
Why has he got to play? Cant cross the ball and a moody get! Just because the previous manager thought the sun shone out of his arse, it dont mean that he deserves a starting place. He was not that good last time he started anyway. Why bring him back into the side when we are winning without him?
SD didn't "Ruin" JCR We bought him for a relatively small fee, and recently turned down £1m+ for him over the summer. Wouldn't that suggest he IMPROVED under the previous manager.
Hope so He's a decent player with good pace and I'm sure Robins will play him in his proper position.
Sorry pal, he did .................. JCR was one of the best ... ... 'wingers' in the Championship between August '08 and December '08. It was around this time that million pound transfer deals were mentioned, then Davey moved JCR off the wing and gave him all sorts of central midfield/free roles, at which he was rubbish. This move by Davey went a long way to us being in danger of relegation until the last match of the season but Davey was too stubborn to admit he had got it wrong from January to April '09, until he eventually put him back out wide for the last 3 or 4 games of last season, hence, in my opinion we just survived. JCR is a good player, but he has shown very little during 2009, some of which was down to the scenario above, but I would suggest that he hasn't shown Robins enough, either during games or on the training field, to get a regular place in the team, which is winning without him. Time for him to roll his sleeves up and earn a recall to the side, along with the other fringe players, it's not a time for throwing teddys out of the cot, if that's what he has done of course
Overall, I agree with your analysis and also that SD was stubborn (almost) to the death. But, I don't believe JCR has been "ruined" (as stated by the OP). He is a better player than when he originally joined us - and SD deserves credit for that. More often than not, transfer speculation does affect form. We had it before with Brian Howard - and Kilgallon is struggling at The Blunts just now...
I think its a tough one Has JCR improved while with us? I'm not sure because he was a world beater 3 or 4 years ago when he was at Rotherham
