Barnsley have turned down two seven-figure bids for Jamal Campbell-Ryce, BBC Radio Sheffield reports.

The 25-year-old Jamaica winger, who recently signed a new deal at Oakwell, has scored five goals this season.

"When you get bids of this size, it's a big temptation," said Barnsley boss Simon Davey.

"Sometimes you have to deal with losing players. I hope he stays but I have to be realistic and there's a chance he may leave."

He's only scored five goals and we signed him for 175K. If we get say 1.5 million for him, that would be a great bit of business by the club.

If Davey wants this club to progress (like he keeps stating)...

then we need to keep hold of these players. Start selling and we have no chance and we'll be in League One in the very near future. None of this too good to turn down ******.

to up the transfer fee of course-it avoids getting to the end of a contract and going for nothing

Don't fancy watching us without him, he's the only player we have worth paying to see.

"I have to be realistic... "

Its a fairly good bet JCR and/or his agent have already been in contact with the bidding club. I suspect there will be more on this in the media as 'we' hope to turn it into an auction to get the best price. If there is more than one club interested, that might help.

Started the season with a potentially great midfield. Now, take De Silva out, and its a bag of ****.

    At least this time...

The bidding war is with a player on a lengthy contract, rather than with 6 months to go.

Oh and take De Silva out and it's ****? I take it you don't rate Colace then?

    He's been ok

not been the world beater people seem to make him out to be, and to be honest, Hassell has looked a better holding midfielder in the last few games. Thats a right back playing out of position.

    RE: He's been ok

Can you really say Hassel is playing out of position these days though? It seems more like he'd be playing out of position at right back now...

Really really hope he stays. Can,t think of anybody who could replace him AND wants to come here. If he does leave i just hope we hold out for a big fee as i can,t see who we can get without big cash. Player of the season so far by a mile for me. :'(
