Davey did a very good job of ruining one of the best wingers in the league. Hopefully MR can repair the damage and get him playing again.

    personally...

.... I don't think he's done anything at all to deserve a start for most of this year, and certainly NOTHING this season.

    Don't agree at all

JCR played by far the best football of his career under Simon Davey. He wasn't half the player when he signed compared to what he showed for us.

JCR played just as good football earlier in his career at Rotherham before the bust up

If I were Robins i'd be organising a few reserve games for players such as JCR, Hassell, Gray etc to prove to him what they can do. If they don't perform they don't get back in the squad, if they do perform they get another shot

    I don't agree

He'd never even scored for Rotherham. In his 108 league starts before joining Barnsley he'd only ever scored 4 goals. He's managed 12 goals in his 81 league starts for us. When he first arrived there was no end product at all, he was all over the place. But Simon Davey got him scoring and creating goals. By far the most productive period of his career has been with Barnsley. We picked him up for peanuts yet there was talk of him making a big money move before we tied him down to another contract.

You talk way too much sense...

...would you mind sprinkling a bit more **** into the mix just to even it up?

    Thanks.

These type of debates help highlight the strength in depth we have, especially attacking wise, with likes of both Grays, JCR, Hume waiting to get a call

Fair point well made Jay. I think you're probably right about his most productive time being here but he was just as good when he was at rotherham the only difference was the goals and I think that most likely came down to the players he had around him. At rotherham he didn't have players who were good enough around him (giving him less space to shoot or less chance to get forward) here he had the likes of howard and anderson next to him so while I don't think Davey did anything special with JCR in terms of suddenly making him a great player i'd say that he put him in the right team/right midfield to make him more productive.

I don't think it's any coincidence that since howard left JCR has been **** and since he moved into the middle he's been crap and there is only one person to blame for trying to convert him to a central midfielder and that is simon davey so I think the claim that davey made him **** is a fair one because since moving into the middle he's had the worst year of his career and shown absolutly nothing at all to warrant a place in a championship side.

I think davey was stupid to do what he did and ultimiately it cost him his job because he'd got a player doing well and scoring vital goals and he took him out of the position where he was doing so well for no reason at all and tried teaching an old dog new tricks which is fine when you're winning and have a winning team around you but in a survival scrap it just doesnt work because the pressure for instant results is too great

    I don't think he's ruined him mate

At the time JCR was by far our most influential player. I think Simon Davey can be credited with having a lot to do with that because he wasn't anywhere near that good when he arrived. I reckon Davey wanted his most influential player to be more involved in the games rather than stuck out on the wing, so he moved him infield. On the whole it didn't work, but there's no reason why that should ruin him. JCR needs to get his head right and focus like he was doing this time last year. If he does that then hopefully we'll see him back to his best.

I agree with Supertykes comments, Davey moved him in-field .....

........ a move that shattered JCR's confidence because he suddenly wasn't the player that he was when on the wing, and daveys stubborn refusal to put him back on the wing nearly cost us a place in the championship and ultimately contributed to Davey getting the push, in my opinion anyway

I agree with you on your last point though, there's only one man who can put it right and that's JCR, it would be a real boost for us if he got back to playing as well as he was this time last season
