2 players coming back made a difference, and maybe the conditions, but just baffled and frustrated by our consistently inconsistent form. Shocking one game, excellent next. Not sure thats good enough though to keep us out of the relegation fight, if we get something at Derby I'd be much more confident.
If Davey doesnt tinker with things on Saturday I think we will get something out of the game. If he changes things and goes out not to lose we invariably will.
This should unbaffle you.
Which do you think is most likely to alter game to game?
Players' ability.
Players' motivation.
Crowd participation.
Manager's tactics.

Imagine a world with nothing to complain about. Forget the Hadron Collider, this BBS would be the cause of a new black hole.
Give up, it's not just Barnsley S.M., it's an English pastime. A bit relieved this morning, I can tell you. Davey is here to stay, I have no doubts about that, he's done this every season and we'll stay up again. It's just pretty uninspiring, that's all.
its the Barnsley way, to do it the hard way. It just wouldnt be right for us to be safely in midtable with 6 games left, certainly makes it interesting. Ive said umpteen times that staying in the Championship is an achievement not to be underestimated, some much bigger teams than us have failed and may do so again this year, we are making progress, not always apparent in every performance and result, but I look at our squad to what we came in the Championship with and it's a million times better. I remember those halcion days in the 80's and early 90s of Division 2 longevity, Id be more than happy with a prolonged but somewhat uneventful stay in the Championship.
If we have a million times better squad then why have we not improved in the league? Why are Doncaster Rovers above us in the league with there squad, surely its the managers job to get the best out of the players something we aren't doing.
Next season I'd like there to be nothing to get nervous/excited about from Feb onwards. I miss those sunny March/April games at Oakwell when we don't give a fck and some youth is given 20 minutes in a game, never to be seen again.
Could it be that the other teams have improved as well? Look at that team paul d has posted that played against Derby and compare it to the one we can field on Saturday. JCR, De Silva, Colace, Temourian, Hammill. Thats as good a midfield as there is in the Championship. Doncaster have had a decent run, fair play to them, but quite often a side that comes up has a decent first year then gets relegated the next. Lets see how they get on next year.
I agree we do have a better squad, im saying why then are we still in the exact same position as when he took over. Look at teams like Blackpool, Donny even Swansea, our squad is better than or on par with all of them but we don't play to our strengths and that is down to one person.
We must have... been working under different instructions last night. Everything that was missing in previous games was present last night. Some players seemed to have more freedom. I mean Kozluk in the opponents half let alone their box creating a goal! More of the same please. Believe in your players Simon, they might just surprise you.
Dr Jekyll: Andersen de Silva and Fosterare playing. The midfield has a nice balance with Hammill on one side, and JCR/Devaney on the other. Macken is up front playing with Mifsud or Bogdanavic. Colace is playing defensive midfield, or Andranik. Hassell is in defence.
Mr. Hyde: Souza and Van Homoet are playing, Foster is out. Andersen is out and JCR is playing central midfield/sweeper, alongside Hassell. Colace is injured. We have no midfield players so we lump it high to Mifsud.

dont disagree with any of that, but Im not so sure its purely down to personnel and shape. I saw an absolutely terrified Rob Kozluk when he got the ball on Saturday yet last night he wanted the ball at every opportunity. If all our player play to the level that they achieved last night, I can see us winning more than half our remaining games. But they wont. Thats the most frustrating thing.
RE: So... I cant think why they'd be scared of Blackpool and not of Birmingham or Palace. No idea, although Im sure we'll get someone suggestion Davey tells them to play within themselves and destroys their self confidence etc.
I think we had.. fear against Brum. Last night that fear was not apparent. A Positive attitude was on display last night. I liked it and the challenge for Davey and the players is to repeat it more often. That then begs the question - is it the manager that can't get it out of the players regularly enough or is it the players that cannot deliver often enough?
