Should have put a clause in there that says he has to get weighed every Monday and if he's overweight we can fine him. Very embarrassing for a second tier footballer in 2013 to look more like a darts player.
I agree Liverpool red just a muscly lad! People saying he is to fat are way off the mark. He could be as skinny as Danny rose and the same people would be saying he's to lightweight and needs to bulk up! Can't win.....
Met him when he first got here when he did that shirt signing with O'grady up close he seems like a boxer
He should be embarassed for letting us down. We gave him a three year contract, paid a six figure fee and gave him the chance to come home to England. On top of that to play at an higher level than he ever has before, despite limited games in English football and those he had played at a poor tier. He should be giving alot more back for all the faith shown in him.
He's been no worse than Vaz te or etuhu were at this stage of their barnsley careers so instead of slating the lad give him a chance and hopefully when he gets a run In the team he will get upto speed and be the player we know he can be.
Conan is obviously too young to have seen Ronnie Glavin. I don't think weight is the issue for Dale. It's more about the ball being an alien object to him. It's all in his head, he'll come good. Then not for the first time Conan and his sort will be choking on his own words. Or me on mine, not fussed.
I'm sorry, I've got to say this now - it's fat and I can tell a mile off. People saying it's just muscle are sooo wrong I'm afraid. I come from a bodybuilding background and it's just an instantaneous thing for me - he doesn't have enough shape. He looks like someone on a 'bulking phase' if that means anything to anyone. He isn't "fat" in the popular sense of the word but what I'm saying is that he could easily retain his muscle and strength, while at the same time shed some of the excess pounds. Although in fairness to him, he looked better on Saturday than at the start of the season (from a physical point of view). As Flicker said in an interview, 30 or 40% better. Now, I'm saying all this but some players do get away with not being in perfect shape - it's not the be all and end all in football. In bodybuilding obviously, it's the whole point - it's all about aesthetics. But look at players like Mark Viduka and and Andy Reid, great footballers but not exactly the leanest. Jennings needs to work on his shape sure but actually it's the football that looked poor as well against Wednesday (although comparing him next to Paddy might be a bit unfair ). Hopefully he can turn it around.
Bottom line is, with all the time and resources he has available to him, there's no way he should still look how he does, after 4 months.
Still don't agree sorry. I'd be appalled with the management if it was and he was allowed to play. .These blokes are monitored and statted up to thw eye balls - anything like that - BMI etc would be spotted a mile off
I'm towing trying to think of the last time I had to choke on my words. Maybe it was when I was putting forward my opinions on Keith Hill.
He does look better to be fair, perhaps people are forgetting how big he was when he arrived? I'm no expert on this so maybe someone could chip in, but is he perhaps trying to lose it at a healthy speed?
