I'm sure there's someone in the world...

...that's a bigger lovely person, but they escape me for now.

Maybe Richard Hammond or that old foppish tw-at. Or Peter Kenyon.

    Wait until you get older

And what Clarkson says makes perfect sense to you.

I watch the clip because of what you said.....

... and the first bloke was right... Clarkson is a lovely person.... a smart lovely person getting cheap laughs taking the piss.... for generations it has been Barnsley that has been ridiculed, but we are old hat now and Clarkson is a smart lovely person who needs to be original.... so he takes the piss out of rotherham.... shallow... dead shallow........

I only watched the clip because you defended it...

If I may be Peter Dantic for a moment

I didn't watch the clip so didn't defend it per se. I made a general point regarding Sir Jeremy, and to be fair, the sooner he starts a political party the better for all of us.

    well I agree with Dirk

... I'll trump your 'no arguement' with a 'minor squabble' !

I read one of his books on holiday and found myself nodding in agreement

    ... I don't know if it's an age thing. (I'm 50)

I don't think it's just an age thing Dave

He's just commenting mostly against the current trend towards regulating everything and the fake eco-warriors. Of course he'll get shouted down for his views because they aren't the ones that the Bernard Right-ons in society want everyone to subscribe to.

Plus when he takes the piss out of someone/something - if people react that's their problem. Get over yourselves.

    Definately a baffoon.

    The court jester.

But true to the role he says the things many people are thinking...

I think one of the things he was astonished about was 'Non competetive' sports days

... they were like that at my Nephew's school. Everyone ran around the field with no winners or losers !!!

Can't say I'd align myself with him politically, but I like Top Gear if that's any good. I reckon he's a good entertainer, although the clip in this thread isn't very good.

As I say, I haven't seen the clip cos it'll be him after getting a reaction - which he seems to succeed in mostly.

Can't understand why folk seem so threatened by what he says, as you said, it's just entertainment.

I loathe Clarkson. What is he? A hypocrite with a dreadful sense of humour drenched in sarcasm (I would say the lowest form of wit but that would be acknowledge him as having some); a pretentious accent which is not home counties as you can still detect the northern twang; a formulaic broadcaster and journalist; a champion of the bigot, an enemy of the environment - stir well and what you get is a complete tawt.
