He's tried to come back here a few times but claims he was told he's 'too old'. I would've had him back as a squad player, not good enough for first choice in the championship though. Hope it works out for him at Shrewsbury, top guy
My lasting memory of Jim was I think against eventually promoted Hull City when he must have run yhe equivalent of ten marathons closing players down . He collapsed on to the floor and flicker went over to Jim and picked him up and carried him to a knowledge his contribution . as far as I'm concerned he was a great servant to our club and I wish him all the very best now and in the future.
Top bloke. Dropped on him a few times in Metrodome last couple of week. Is he still seeing that Barnsley lass. Thought that would be reason for him being back here
Yeah he's a gym member at the Metrodome, as are a few other ex Reds, he's very much still living in Barnsley with the lass he was seeing.
Good luck to Jim o brien I can remember that goal he scored blackpool away flicker great escape season away end went mental. Always gave 100% did Jim. And didn't mark mcghee have another pop at Barnsley because he signed for us over mghees Aberdeen. Top bloke.
Call me weird but I never saw him as a 'great' player. He was in our best midfield since the Prem with Butterfield, Drinkwater and Perkins but I think he was more of a workhorse than a skilful winger. Good luck to him though I hope he does really well for the Shrews!
I always really liked him, trouble is my last memory of him is that attempted clearance at swillsboro
