Greavsie is out of intensive care and is sat up in bed. Although he is not out of the woods doctors are optimistic he will make a slow recovery. As good a news as any under the circumstances. Hope his will power is strong and he continues on the road to recovery.

Depends he could have lost a few quid, I heard Eddie Hearn was looking at getting him in ring with Joshua after last weeks news, now he's sat up I can't see Eddie risking him, He'll have find someone else for him to knock over now.

There was a really good article in the Daily Mail the other day about him. It's a wonder he is still alive after the alcohol abuse he gave his body in the 60s and 70s. 20 pints of beer A DAY plus a bottle of vodka at home just to top him up. Not saying he meant that was the input every day, but even so, it's a massive risk to the liver.

It mentioned the 1966 World Cup as well, where he lost his place and missed the final. I had forgotten the story but he played in the first three group matches then got a nasty injury in the third game. Someone raked his leg with their studs and he ended up with a boot full of blood. A young lad called Geoff Hurst took his place and kept it through to his hat trick in the final. Jimmy was on the pitch at the end celebrating with the rest but he must have been fuming about the injury. He didn't get a medal either until decades later when the FA finally did the right thing and awarded late medals to the rest of the squad. This was only after campaigning by fans pressure groups to get the medals awarded.

Only the eleven that played at Wembley originally got a medal. Proves what a crap organisation it has ALWAYS been, not just now.

Unfortunately, like many others he sold his winners medal because he needed the money. This is a player who played nearly 600 games at the top level and scored over 300 goals. Footballers today don't know they are born.
