a paedophile and coward. took the easy way out, denied justice and never even acknowledged or apologised for what he did
Must admit I am inclined to agree with you - just seen this on the BBC website "Smith was a prolific sex offender whose first conviction was in 1966. He had 22 convictions for sexual offences against young boys." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24722248 Though he has taken the cowards way out I dont mind - I think the world is a better place without him in it and can think of better ways of spending tax payers money than a trial and paying to keep him securely away from us all.
You can never put yourself in the shoes of a victim...but I'm pretty sure that I'd be satisfied with this outcome.
Me too. It would also take away any worry of him being released/escaping from their mind I imagine too.
Difficult to tell what to think really, but it would also have been nice for him to have lived the rest of his life in total fear, with regular beatings in prison.
Savilles Driver has been previously found guilty in a court of law of 22 previous offences against young boys. We will never now know if this particular allegation is true - though there is a good chance it is as the victim didnt know about Smiths past so not sure why he would have made it up, but even if its not true in this case I wont be shedding any tears. Also if he really is innocent on this one I would expect he would have tried to clear his name not just top himself which many will take as an admission of guilt
he denied a fair trial, when he decided to take the easy way out. huge admission of guilt, as far as i'm concerned. people generally top themselves when they've either been wrongly convicted, or don't want to face justice. an innocent person would fight to clear their name.
I wonder why he didn't do this last time though when he was convicted? Maybe he wasn't guilty this time and thought that no-one would believe him? Who knows?
Last time wasn't as high profile as this time though was it, so he probably thought he'd kept it contained. Now he's had a very public shaming.
For me the question is, if he has been convicted 22 times previously for sexual assaults what was he even doing out of prison? its quite obvious from that record he was an habitual offender who has never intended to stop carrying out these crimes - how many chances do people deserve? he shouldnt have been in the public domain to (alledgedly) commit any more of these types of life destroying crimes.
Yerbut ! What about Rolf Harris a national institution..... !!! Been messing with his 'digeridoo?? Adds a new meaning to the words of his songs.. "Son arise!! not to mention..."Two little boys" Hope it is not true as I kind of like the public persona of the guy, unlike Saville who I always found a bit weird
Not making any comment on his guilt or not, but to state that somebody facing a trial and kills themselves is "saving money for one less trial" is just wrong. We have a judicial system to determine guilt. Perhaps we should just go around giving people the option of killing themselves rather than go on trial. Yes, perhaps it does make him look guilty that he took his life, but perhaps also just the pressure of having changes against you can push someone over the edge, we don't know the mental state of people and it can just take extra stress to make someone take their own life.
