Last time around we appointed someone who had: League One experience Won promotion Won a league title Played a pressing style I’d imagine any contenders would need a similar CV, the league title might not be vital as not many managers have those to their name, but having won promotion before is a must With the pressing keep in mind our entire academy have been trained to play pressing for many years, we have a conveyor belt of kids coming up who fit right into the first team system, and a first team who all know how to press, having experience of pressing will be a must have requirement Disco has the pressing exp. but that’s all, Moore doesn’t play pressing but ticks most of the other boxes, Stendel ticks all but a league title (but that bridge is burnt surely). Anyone seen anyone linked who ticks all the boxes (and that’s a realistic target)?
It's a charismatic motivator we need in charge, someone who commands some respect with the philosophy of how to get the best out of players. We have the coaching staff in place as you say from academy upwards to do the nitty gritty.
Any names that are "linked" at this stage are purely based on a bookies list of mainly unemployed fellas. I'd have Stendel back. Knows the town, fans and style of play as well as how to get out of this league. Suppose it depends how sour things are with the current board noting that Conway et al who were here when it went pear shaped aren't.
I can’t see Wilder being interested, for me he could land several championship jobs if he waits, not sure we can affording him either with him having prem experience, but he’s local and as you say fits the bill so you never know There’s no way he’d drop down without a release clause though
No, is the short answer. Dave Challinor, Steve Evans, Chris Wilder probably the closest. Not sure promotion is a must though, personally. Neither Schumacher or McKenna had one.
Stendels big gripe was we needed experience, we’ve changed our approach to this slightly allowing the odd experienced player, but the model is still buy young. On the flip side his old employees have gone, not sure if the new board would entertain him or not though
