Fantastic performance today by young Joe and thoroughly deserved his 178 not out. Here are two discussion points to chew over: 1) do players of any sport actually lose something of their energy and ability in their twenties and should more youngsters be blooded earlier in teams? That was a master-class in concentration without nerves today by Joe.2) Should England have declared when Joe reached 150 and taken 8-10 overs at an exhausted and demoralised Australian side? I think they should and hope we don't regret it, if there were a surprise thunderstorm in the next two days. Wrong decision to bat on in my book. The Aussies looked out on their feet, but will be revived by tomorrow morning. Still think England will win at a canter, but you never know with our weather.
I was surprised we didn't have a few overs at them, but with the ball doing nothing and Root, Bresnan and Bell showing just how lifeless the pitch really is, maybe Cook wants 600+? Way too cautious in my opinion. Wonderful batsman, but doesn't convince me as a captain.
In the last month or two i've posted a bit about this so called experience and Loyalty. Most players who play at a good level will be found out at some stage. Also i think players worry more and more. They worry about Failure and they start to think about the millions watching them around the world. The likes of Root and Agar will not care about people watching him or not doing well. They've been the best growing up and thats all they know.
Don't think there was any need to declare today. Have 45 minutes tomorrow throwing the bat at the ball and have ten overs at them before lunch. Reminds me of the first test in Brisbane when we lost 5-0 and the Aussies pretty much broke our spirit with that huge innings. If we skittle them out for 200 and win the second test by 300+ runs what kind of message does that put in the Aussie dressing room? Good plan for me
let him get his double ton. if the aussies start as they finished, he'll rattle the runs off in half an hour
Think Agar will be worrying, his bowling is abysmal especially when compared to the EXPERIENCED swann.
Im not proving you wrong again by posting stats. Look them up yourself then you'll have no need to reply when you realise your rectum is speaking.
Im sure he wouldnt be speaking about him if they had a good experienced spinner. Im also sure hed state experienced players are better than inexperienced. Im also sure he wouldnt say black was white.
How can you say that confidently? They have a poor batting line up, low on confidence, and our bowling line up is far superior. Swan will be liking what he sees from the wicket tomorrow, and with heat planned it will only crack even more. We're also much fresher and will be keen to make a statement. Clarke is the big wicket. He's the only one that can get them even close to a draw.
I said good spinners, it seems your eyes missed that word. Your pops at experienced pros in favour of youth have yet to be proven to have any basing so why carry on acting a tit about it.
I don't think there's any need to declare yet. Two days still to go and I don't think we'll need anymore than 4 sessions to bowl them out. Root will quickly get his double century and we'll put them into bat just before lunch. We'll bowl them out by lunch on the final day and Swann will get 5 for again or better.
I think they could easily be bowled out for less than 200 again Simon Katich. David Hussey Marcus North and Cameron White are better players than most of the other Aussie top 6.
