Yep.....tries to portray an intellectual image, when in reality, he's a total bell end. What he's got to realise (if he had a brain) is that you create your own image........what people see and hear are generally what they form their opinions on. I'm afraid Joey Barton has made some fundamentally bad decisions, thus far in his life, that have created his poor image.
Don't know much about Joey Barton, don't buy or read the tabloids and don't follow him on Twitter. I get the impression he's an arsehole, and while that may well be true, the only Premier League footballer prepared to talk on camera to Justin Fashanu's niece for the documentary she did on homosexuality in football was Joey Barton. He was bright, eloquent and spoke a good deal of sense without so much as a trace of bigotry or intolerance. So although he may be a bit of a tw@t, that's not the whole story.
Jay, that's my point. He should have enough common sense to realise that the overriding image that he will create (at this stage in his life) is what he does as a footballer; not just how he plays, but how he conducts himself. He really does struggle with the latter.
He's a massive waste of talent. He was superb at City & did well at Newcastle. In my opinion he's far more talented than someone like Parker who's gained more caps than him & on a similar level to Carrick. Unfortunately he's wasted the best part of his career due to his off the field behaviour, even now he gets sent off a couple of times a season & has to have a do with someone off the pitch. Strange character.
Some of his sendings off are down to reputation now though, if he'd been the one who kicked out at that Norwich player at the weekend, like toure he would be getting a 3 match ban now.
What I meant, really, was had you seen him on the Derby/QPR game last night? He may be a nutcase in lots of things but what the hell was he thinking of last night with his hair? Looked like a pirate with a vertical pony tail. FFS.
