With all this Charlie Adam talk. I can remember John Mcdonald scoring from the halfway line. Help my beer addled brain. Was it against Grimsby around 1982??
Aye, definitely against Grimsby in a Tuesday Night game, won 1-0 I think. Can't remember year though. Could have been '82 or '83.
Martin gory also scored from halfway line...spion kop goal.... cant remember who against though or which year
Nowhere near as far out as people will have you believe. It's a fantastic goal, but all the talk of it being near the halfway line is a huge exaggeration.
The Spion Kop is full of our fans here. Where were the away fans? I guess that Brighton didn't bring too many up for a midweek match at the other end of the country, but even so, I thought that the Kop was always used for away fans after segregation was brought in?
I was at the game, and queueing outside the Ponty. One of the stewards came round and said they were opening the Kop for home fans so we all dashed round. I don't know if they moved Brighton fans into the West Stand, or if there wasn't any.
Was segregation brought in on a specific date? I've watched us from the Kop a few times. Against Newport County in our last match of the 80-81 season, when we won promotion from this division, there were hundreds of us, all lounging in the sun.
Not from the other half but this Ian Ferguson goal was a thing of beauty. This was when we used to score for fun. https://youtu.be/SfOl7tIEgxk
I'd like to bet you'll have seen John MacDonald play against United a number of times for Rangers in the early 'eighties? Good goal, by the way.
