There is an article in the Daily Mirror and on the BBC Sport website that John Sheridan is about to take over at Chesterfield. There had been some speculatation/rumour on here that he could be the next manager of our club.
Yet another example of us dragging our feet while others get sorted. I'm not saying he would be the answer but I can see us being in the siuation, yet again, of us getting left with the dregs to choose from on both the player and managerial fronts. We seem to thrive on hesitancy and indecision. Just once it would be nice to see us be positive, even if it means taking a risk.
Shocked we should be linked with the likes of Sheridan. Thats ambition for you, but then again some supporters would welcome Neil Redfearn as manager ffs.
His brother used to play for Barnsley though. That's good enough for half the folk on here. Sack the manager who's kept us up three times and replace him with somebody who's failed to get his club out of League One. Not to mention the 'incident' at the dogs, but falling out with players is Davey's weakness apparently. Plus he's a deedar.
Would you have gone for Sherriden ? If not then how can we be dragging our feet.</p> We simply didn't go for a manager we're not interested in.</p> Take a risk ? who on ?</p> Sorry mate but I'm nort an advocate of change for change sake.</p> I'm ambivalent towards Davey but if we are to change I'd like to see a superior replacement not just someone else because he's 'not Davey'</p>
RE: His brother used to play for Barnsley though. Agree about the deedar bit. He got the Oldham job, promoted within, a month after Davey took over from Ritchie. He`s had them in the play offs and also been there or thereabouts for the other 2 seasons. It being League One was because he happened to be there at the time like Davey dropped on being a Championship manager. I think he did an OK job and had them at the right end of the table.
TBH I'd rather stick with Davey. Sheridan - one club and left under a cloud - falling out with players and the like. Afraid he isn't one that immediately springs to mind. what has he done to prove he would be a better option
Not neccessarily. What I was saying was that we seem to dither about for so long about signing someone, be it players, managers or whoever that by the time we get round to it all the quality has been snapped up. I was only using the Sheridan case as an illustration. As far as who I'd "take a risk on" I will admit that my player knowledge is not up there with the "great and the good" on here so I can't throw any names into the hat but there must be players who "could" rather than "would" do a job for us but by the time we've thought about it for a bit the've gone! There. That's my opinion for what it's worth.
