Is Simon Heslop ? Andy Johnson? Sam Togwell ?</p> Money pissed away, hope Cryne's ready reckoner can cope.</p>
For some reason I can no longer access the official site, so am unable to verify the suggested formation, nor the employment of Mr Simon Davey.
Don't be too downhearted Once we've signed Lewin Nyatanga, Tininho & Alan Lee, everything in the garden will be rosey. Well, it will in mine. All I've got is roses.
Tininho....... he warnt tha gu war he? Queudrue or Jon Harley would be better option in my opinion..... along with Riordan of course!
Striker needed Who is available that is of sufficient quality ?</p> Will he try Mostto again ? Will Ferenczi be taken off the list and reprieved ?</p> If he stops with the idiotic selection of Hassell in midfield, gets a settled back 4 and once we get DeSilva back, we aren't looking too bad imho.</p> Up front ? - all depends how Hume settles and what role he's given. My Leicester supporting mate says Hume won't ever be a wide man while ever his arse points downwards so it should be Hume + Macken/whoever. Is that good enough ? It's a big gamble for Davey, especially after Cryne's come out and said we ought to finish mid-table. Mind, Cryne also said he didn't think Bobby in midfield was a good idea but I can't see Simon giving that much regard. Simon is his own man. Wonder if that will keep him in a job ?</p>
I didn't think so, either But it's not my opinion that counts, it's Simon Davey's. By the way, Harley has signed a two year contract at Watford. I'm just trying to lift Dirk's gloom. And failing.
Potential striker targets? David Connolly, Alan Lee, Grzegorz Rasiak, Nicky Maynard, Jon Stead, David Healey, Matty Fryatt, Leon Best, Derek Riordan, Craig Beattie. These are names just picked at random, just to show there are worthy players around. I am not suggesting that any of them are actual transfer targets.
RE: Potential striker targets? How many would come to Barnsley/are affordable/are the type of striker that would fit in with what's already here ?</p> 'Going with what we've got'</p>
Are any less affordable than Kevin Phillips? I never take as gospel anything told to me by anyone in football, be they player, coach, manager, scout or whatever. I don't think we'll 'go with what we've got', but I'm probably wrong.
Why, how much would Phillips have cost ? everything said on here about that has been pure speculation.</p> There's cost and then there's whether you can afford that cost. Phillips may or may not have cost a lot in wages - however, we could afford that cost because of the returns he would have probably provided.</p> Some of the names you mentioned may cost less, but can we afford that amount based on their track record and future prospects ?</p> </p> </p> </p>
I don't know I'm ignorant of all the salient facts from your pertinent and well thought out questions. For what it's worth, I believe we're in need of another striker option in the squad. I'd like to think Mr Davey is of a similar mindset and prepared to do something about it.
I think 5 senior strikers in Mostto, Odejayi, Ferenczi, Macken and Hume is more than enough. Plus we've got two youngsters desperate to break in to the first team in Coulson and Adam. All the senior strikers are Davey signings, so it's not like he's stuck with the remnants of the squad he inherited. If I were chairman of BFC then there's no way more money would be available to Davey for further striker signings until he moved on what we already have. We already look like a rest home for **** strikers as it is. I see little reason to exacerbate that situation.
I agree with what you've said Which is why I think Ferenczi & Mostto will be moved to pastures new before another striker comes here.
