According to Sunday People, Wigan will make a 2.5m bid for Stones in January, Chelsea and Everton also want him but Wigan will give him a quicker chance of Premier League Football and can also help Martinez use different Tactics

they want to snap their hands off at 2.5 million for a player with less than half a season under his belt,I dont think he'd fetch that much if we were relegated.

we could replace our entire defence with that amount of cash.

Ifwe could get 2.5 million and a decent sell on % at the moment i would be happy. Its no good having a very very good Right back if your centre backs are only ok or good. I like golbourne and i think mcnulty will come good with games and if we can get a leader for say 750k and a couple of good squad defenders and clear the likes of hassell and edwards it would be good.

Two slight problems with your thinking HT. Our centre backs are not ok or good, they are fecking awful and only you and Keith Hill think they are 'good' and secondly Jimmy McNulty will come good with games? He's played FIFTY games for us and One hundred and sixty three professional games in total and is still w@nk.

Hemsie, your knowledge of football is a bit like my knowledge of micro-biology. Except, I don't pretend to know anything about micro-biology.

But he was good last season Supertyke. He played a lot of games also. This season he seemed off it at times. I really do think with a few more games he'll be good.
I think Fosters a good player and a good player to have in squad and i like Craine.

i don't think Wisemans been that bad either. I think you could try Edwards. Now the last time i think i saw the deender was at blackpool when he played well imo but he could have played since and ive forgotten.

No he wasn't. He was awful last season, holding onto the ball too long every time he got it and then losing it to their players when they took it off him or when he passed it straight to them.

I don't think Stones is a defender. If he does come good and live up to his early promise, I see him more as a Michael Carrick type of player. He will have to work on his passing though he is much quicker than Carrick. I wonder how Professor Hemsworth feels about this?

    I disagree Mr.C

He CAN play in the middle but hes not a passer of the football. He will either be a very good alrounded right back or a centre. I've seen him play in the middle for maybe 20/30 mins in a game but he never did it when the team was under presure.

I think we should sell him, 2.5 million will allow hill to have the same budget as this year, while we all wonder were the rest of the cash has gone.

Foster, Hassell and Stones are better than the golden boys in defence. They should be starting on Tuesday.

I heard Wigan's bid also includes taking Hemsworth Tyke to their equivalent forum on a 3 year deal.

Stones looked a class act when I saw him, think it was Blackpool game, I'd want more than 2.5m for him personally, he's English as well which is a big value adder.
