Don't get this formation with winall and scowen playing wide, with the invisible man in park playing well where?

Its isolating the full backs. Nullifying the threat of horrihane going forward and essentially made winall playing pointless.

Big jabbo won everything first half but no one got close to supporting him.

Subs were ineffective. The formation didn't change.

the winning spell consisted of a lone striker supported by a roving midfielder and two pacey wide men.

Now its back to square pegs in round holes.

Looked like we set up like we were doing under Wilson, Basham ran midfield for the blunts. We were 2nd best all over park.

Agreed and I don't think he'll try it again. Losing O'Sullivan is a big blow in my opinion, added to the loss of Davies, the poor showing of Stewart and John (amongst others) doomed us yesterday. Jennings should be tearing teams apart in this league instead the only thing he's tearing are his shorts. There will be changes in the summer, and I'm optimistic for next season under LJ.

I think you have to credit Sheff Utd - they did all the basics bang on, defended deep and relied on set pieces to create chances.

They also pressed really well, to the point I was thinking we might get an opportunity in the last twenty minutes as their players would be nackered, but it seemed the opposite.

 

We wont make as many loan signings next season only reason we made so many is because wilsons signings. Brown treacy hemmings havent cut the mustard leaving us short in areas espesially on the wing with jennings been a absolute joke

 

I don't mind loans when they are good players with the right attitude - but when we loan kids who are no better than what we have at the club then I don't see the point. All we're doing there is giving experience to another teams players, increasing their value whilst neglecting our own.

 

I don't think he's tactically inept - he's having to try to find a formation that suits the players he has available & considering suspensions & injuries it's not easy.

There'll be plenty of people justifying that because he's come in & not been able to build his squad and that's why there's square pegs in round holes. However, the same argument is there for why Danny did it, too. As in he didn't have enough time to build a squad capable of playing the system he wanted to.

 

Oldham have made 12 loan signings in each of the last two seasons.

 

The only loan at itself who is no better than what we have is John

 

Like I said dont think we will make as many next season if we get two decent wingers in. We have only made so many because permanent signings havent been up to it.
