So, it looks as though it is, "the king is dead. Long live the king," then. Positives - we have achieved our best successes with young managers, albeit player-managers generally speaking; we seem to be trying to develop from a profile in terms of players and now also of management by recruiting staff who have a sound track record, are young and have ambition to achieve greater things. Perhaps we should not underestimate the impact of a young manager who can develop good rapport with what is a youngish team. Look at Eddie Howe at Bournemouth. Young Lee is presumably willing to work within the board's vision regarding player recruitment and the like, so that ought to make for a settled backroom and playing staff. I have reservations, but most of them are groundless because young Lee is relatively unproven as yet. Definitely thinking of the dream here and hoping that a young, upwardly-mobile manager can benefit both the team and his own cv during the time he is with us. Success would involve his getting us back into and established in the championship, although probably then being poached by another club! would be success, though! Think positive!
Excellent post which echoes my sentiments. Obviously the chances of Johnson emulating Eddie Howe are negligible given their respective budgets, but I'm looking forward to having a younger manager with (hopefully) some new ideas and a fresh approach, and hopefully someone who can do what Danny couldn't and motivate a squad of players who should be doing much, much better this season.
