Since he's come in. Most quite OTT if you ask me baring in mind he's not really had to change a lot from the caretaker boys. But now he has to take some serious criticism. The shape of the team was completely wrong from the start, no wingers and we were getting cut open time and again, did he have the nous to alter things? No. Winnall and Ibehre wern't working, his solution? Put Winnall out on the left, did it work? No, just as it didnt against PNE. Today the game was lost from the dugout, one of the worst performances I've seen in a long old time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think it shows just how bad the squad was that Wilson bought. No wingers at all so as soon as one is missing we are there for the taking. Wilson had the problem now Johnson does. The difference is that Wilson created the problem, Johnson inherited it
We always look our best with Atleast one dangerous wider player. O'Sullivan and Williams. Need width and pace in this division. We don't have either at moment. Just a bad day. Dust off and go again.
The formation was a disaster today. We got what we deserved and in all honesty it could have been a lot worse.
I didnt and I have maintained all along that I dont think he'll last long but while he's here he'll have my support. Today was a disgrace though and some idea's need to be seriously booked up. He got away with it against PNE because of the late equaliser, today he wasnt as fortunate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lets be honest now the other team, doesn't matter what name they had on their badge, came and did the perfect job on us and at times made us look like school kids.
We've lost one game against a team above us in the league and the 'I don't think he'll last long' comments come out. Honestly, the mind boggles.
Can't disagree with a word of that. On todays showing I hope we don't get the play offs because what was clear today is that despite the run we have been on, we are a million miles away from being a team that could hope to even compete in the championship. It would be total carnage and i don't want that for my club. LJ came in during a bounce in results and has been fortunate so far in that he has looked like Mourinho without having to do much. Today was the time to get it right and he fecked up big style. I know it is only one game, so don't go overboard, but I hope that today was not a demonstration of his tactical capabilities because if it was then he wont be here at Christmas.
Id have told you that after the Oldham game. Ok that was 6 wins in 6, brilliant, but we had played some very poor teams in that run and won without looking very good ourselves. The worst thing that could happen to us is sneaking into the play offs and actually winning them, as I also said at the time, because we would be an absolute laughing stock. Lee experimented and it didn't work. Whilst I disagree with him doing so in such a big game, i can accept the move in general. He tried to put all our best players in one lineup, which was a very attacking setup, and send out a message by going and thumping our rivals. Unfortunately it didn't work, but to his credit he changed things immediately after their goal went in. I didn't agree with his taking Conor off either, but the game was lost by that point anyways. He made a brave and very positive decision going into this game and it backfired. Yes he got it wrong, but as long as this is the only time then that's fine in my book. I have no problem with mistakes, as long as they're not made repeatedly. I believe he's a very good coach and an extremely astute individual and the safer 4-5-1 will return for Colchester.
He experimented with what? How on earth was that an attacking line up? We played at home with no wingers! It was ultra defensive, everytime we went 5 yards forward we went 10 back and then knocked it long to Ibehre He changed absolutely nothing until there was 25 minutes to go, anybody who's got anytjing about them could have seen it needed changing after 25 minutes and Hourihane would have been the first player I pulled, TBH I wouldnt have started him. Two transfer windows. And one of them was a last minute job By your logic, Johnson should sort it in one or two too? It was obvious we'd miss O'Sullivan. A Wilson signing.
Today wasnt about whos signed who, it's about the system employed by LJ, one that he tried against PNE aswell and got out of jail with a last minute equaliser. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
