He's fine coming on when the games won them 3yrd sideways and back passes are fine when your 4-2 up away from home. When we need to create and look to play forward with pace he's hopeless I'm afraid.

Opponents can read him like a book He’s too slow in thought and on the pitch, had a chance to shoot today but played a three yard pass behind him, don’t know why probably because he would have had to be quick to get his shot away dunno ‍♂️ probably a confidence thing

Needs replacing ASAP. He's got talent but no application and we can't afford to carry players like that. He's had 2 seasons to knuckle down and be the player that everyone knows he has the potential to be and just hasn't done so at all. Get him out as soon as possible and replace him with someone who applies themselves and hopefully for his sake he will get the help he clearly needs to fulfill his potential elsewhere.

Seen him play well but then i saw him first half against Exeter and wondered how he was a footballer. A real puzzle that lad

On today's showing alone, Grant is a much better footballer than Russell.

He is not one of my favorite players, and I do expect much more from him than he has delivered so far.

However, on this one point I disagree, I watched him today and he does a few shoulder dips, fakes, shimmies, etc. and then changes direction and loses his marker. What he does after that is the issue.

Mate who's an Huddersfield fan said he was brilliant for them a few years ago but I think he was playing further forward at that time.

On today’s showing alone, Conor McGregor is a better footballer than Russell.

About five or six weeks ago he played really well I thought on a Tuesday night at Oxford. Really hoped the penny had dropped and he’d turned a corner.

He followed it up with one of the worst performances in a Barnsley shirt I’ve ever seen the following Saturday against Exeter. He was truly dreadful.

There are far too many Exeter performances and barely any Oxford ones. Ability but bone idle. Too lackadaisical and lazy to earn the right to play.

I will support whoever pulls on the shirt for us. I’m not one to get on our own player’s back’s at games. I want him to succeed.

But I’d not be upset if he didn’t play for us ever again if I’m honest. I’ve seen more than enough to know he’s never going to cut it on a regular basis.

He's our player so the best option by far is to support him for the run in and who knows what part he might play

Don't remember the Jan Molby days, even though I was there. Other than Paddy McCourt, best close ball control of any player I've ever seen in a Barnsley shirt.

Lazy opinion. We can all see his limitations but to suggest he has no application is nonsense.

Sorry I'll correct it. Very little application. He does to be fair manage to drag himself slothlike onto the pitch

If he looked like he gave a **** I would. I've no problem with technically limited players who give their all (e.g. Sam Togwell) but gifted players who don't put the graft in (e.g. George Moncur, Russell) piss me off no end.

Not being insulting to the lad but unfortunately he's not good enough at this level. noted dodgeys comment on his time at Huddersfield and maybe were not playing him in his best position but we need him for cover in midfield and he can't do it. we look like a decent side at present and hes not up to it..

I often agree with your opinion on most things, but likening Jon Russell to George Moncur is ludicrous. For me Russell at least shows some promise. Moncur was a talentless waster.
