Where do you get that idea from? Players usually keep the same number but, in this case, he's been offered one of the "first eleven" numbers instead of last season's number 20.

Not sure why they didn't just give him number 11 seeing as Brownhill as gone. Unless, of course, it was a condition of signing the contract that he got the number 7?

Would seem logical for the left winger to wear 11!

They could also have given him 10, as R Williams has little use for it. Club shop run out of 1s, maybe? :)

You would it would have been courtesy to speak to Scown first. Some odd things going on at the moment. MCCourt summarily kicked out, Williams contract withdrawn and now this.

Agreed, in the midst of all the recent europhoria (sic), there's some strange things going on. I hope there's some genuine reasons behind it all and they're not just management blunders.

#7 is highly coveted by Liverpool players... Not fair on Josh though. 11 is free and traditionally a left wingers number.

Think some of the lads need to be a bit more professional when it comes to social media. Scowen should keep his mouth closed and discuss any perceived injustice with the club, behind closed doors, professionally.

Let's not have any infighting destabilising the club. I'm bloody hoping this isn't a toys out the pram situation because Hammill has signed on for decent wedge, is the fans saviour, whilst some of the squads friends are being released. Quick way to lose team spirit.

It seems a bit like that unfortunately with it being all the defenders liking it after Williams has been released. It was a bit uncourteous of the club but you think Josh would have the sense to not moan publicly on twitter about it.

I thought this, a little worrying if they start publicly criticising the club and other players "Liking" it. In fighting is a sure fire way for this ship to sink. Pretty annoying if its manifested around something as petty as a squad number.

Feel sorry for the lad I know who bought a 2016/17 shirt for the play-off final and had 'Scowen' '7' printed on the back!!! :)

I agree that Josh probably shouldn't have gone public about it but I'm sure it wouldn't have been an issue at all if someone had had the courtesy to ring him. The main thing he was saying was that he only found out from twitter - which brings the club's use of social media into question as much as his.

I know I'd be p'd off if I turned up to work tomorrow and someone else had been given my parking space, without a word, or a replacement.
