Do people who put this stuff on here write judas, liar, mercenary etc. in colleagues' leaving cards when they resign to join a competing company for a shedload more money?
Dear Gaz, Nice to have worked with you. Good luck in your new role at Microsoft. You Judas Cnt. Lots of love. Nigel
Dunno. have ya written in a card for someone who said here for the long haul no fly by night up the Reds and looking forward to being here for the ongoing project...then saying BTW etc etc. appears it's that that's pssd most people
Tbh I will side with the opening poster as I can't believe all the Duff loving. Saw Cauley Woodrow get more stick than Duff and he was here for 4 years, helped us get promoted, helped us get to play offs in championship and then got us some money through sale. Duff here for 1 season and jumped ship first opportunity for the money and fans are like all the best Duff don't forget to leave your address so I can send you a Christmas card each year. Good riddance I say
For us it's personal, for him it's business. I doubt anyone on here if they were a manager would think too much about leaving somewhere like Peterborough for a club a division above. If you've got no deep historical affinity for the club then it's an easy decision. I'm sure he formed some form of attachment and he wouldn't have left for an extra 5 grand a year, but ultimately everything has a price. Between the cash and the opportunity to prove himself in the league above I can't blame him.
Think a lot of people are missing the point. Duff sold himself to us fans as being something that he wasn't. People like me took him at his word "Here for the long haul" "There are no shortcuts" etc. I fell for that, and tbh, his lack of integrity saddens me. I know, more fool me, but I thought he was different. Him going to Swansea doesn't bother me, it's the fact that I thought he was different from the norm, I feel a bit foolish now. When VI left I didn't feel the same as he never claimed to be anything different. Just so tired of the lack of integrity of people in privileged positions. Difficult to find anyone these days whose word actually counts for something.
Been there mate. If it's any consolation, as long as you learn from it, it will serve you well in the long run. The next time, you'll be prepared for it. The time after that you'll expect it. And so on.
Said people don’t enter the building spouting about loyalty and being there for the long haul though. Duff sold himself on the back of having only 2 clubs in twenty odd years. Not the bloke he portrayed to be and that’s what has annoyed folk….me included.
