Until AR comes out and tells us his side of the story everything is pure speculation. There's no way we were ever going to sign Bates from 'Boro, so thats a non starter as a debate anyway. Jones from Man U, again, AR will probably say he couldn't promise him first team football straight away and was keeping an honest relationship with Fergie in the hope of signing players in the future. As for Kazim Richards, who knows. Like everyone this is pure speculation, we all have to wait for AR to speak and reserve judgement.
Would hope AR had more concern about the stability of the club than to get involved in a tit for tat arguement with GS. If I were him I'd walk, whatever the rights and wrongs of what GS said last night, to say it on the Radio is a disgrace and obviously calculated to protect his position and undermine AR.
Ritchie doesn't have to get involved in tit for tat on the radio Still think this whole thing is a storm in a tea cup, not as bad as people are making out. So AR comes on radio sheff tonight or tomorrow and explains how he was offered Jones/Kazim/Bates, and why he turned them down, questions answered. Then he goes on to announce a signing of a player by the weekend, one who HE actually believes will strengthen the first team. Finally he finishes with something along the lines of "I appreciate the chairman wants the best for this football club etc. etc. however it wasn't feasible to spend my limited budget on the players been offered to me". Mike Newell and Luton have worked through bigger rifts than this and gone on to succeed.
yeah lined up bu him without consulting the manager. AR was quoted only 3 days ago as saying "we need an experienced head in defence to bring the young lads along with them" Bates doesn't fit the profile AR is looking for, so doesn't make the phone call to complete the deal.
Ritchie's quote about Morgan " We are looking at younger targets"</p> Then he decides he needs experience.</p>
Then we're told that he wanted Kazim Richards, then changed his mind. Might not have the full story but it's baffingly bizarre to say the least
In other words you think GS was lieing and so Ar will just come out and refute the lies and just get on with the job! If they were lies then Ritchie would have grounds for a slander case - get his contract paid off and compensation to boot! I cant see GS going public if what he said was not the truth. After Ritchie rushing off before GS had time to speak to him yesterday, contract negotiations being through an agent and GS saying they hadnt spoken for a week I get the impression that Ritchie is avoiding any dialogue and last night was an attempt, however ill advised, by Shep, to get a face to face meeting with Ritchie!
