who ever it maybe, deos it matter where they have come from? They still have to do the same job and prove themselves. Take Paul Jewell for example, had a blinder at Bradford, stinker at Wendy, blinder at Wigan and stinker at Derby. Ramos Seville blinder, Spurs stinker. The point is how do people know if Robins is good enough if he is not given a chance? Why would Paul Ince be so much better after his record at Blackburn? BFC will not be able to please everybody but whoever gets the job I say good luck to them having to put up with us as fans at times!
So the Answer is Simon Davey. Stinker at Barnsley - Blinder at Barnsley Quick - get him in before someone else works it out!
Young manager to rejuvenate, or experienced one to steady the ship? That's somewhere near the choice for most clubs and most vacancies are because a club is in trouble. I think that the young, upwardly-mobile, ambitious manager is what we need all right and Robins is the brightest new spark around. We need a shot of rejuvenation, not a steadying. Anyone now would have taken Roy Keane. I look at the man's body-language (looking at his watch to see if his team have time to concede yet another goal) and I think of the money he is on. Sometimes, it is too much below big name managers to drop down. For Robins, it is a step-up and all the signs seem right. Well done the Board for getting negotiations this far. I hope they will complete the deal. Presumably Cryne's role will be to talk about the finance package. Incentives for keeping us up and incentives for getting us into play-offs (next season??) etc. Oh! and I bet Robins will want a get-out clause if, after success with us, a top club come calling. All good man-management if you ask me! Deal done by Saturday, or Monday? I hope so!
