Marc Roberts Has not played a league game this year one game in league cup not injured- according to transfermarkt I know he would have to take a big pay cut but if we could wager a loan deal or speak to him at end of his contract he'd be perfect to marshall our backline proper defender. Big old-fashioned centre half. No nonsense, no messing about with the ball. Experienced leader. And Penistone boy too
If, we're looking at another defender by the time the window opens, I'm not sure I'd be looking at another player on loan, considering we already have McCart here for the season. I'm not convinced Roberts is an improvement on what we have already either, but then again, I wasn't his biggest fan when he was here last time.
Not for me. He's hardly played in ages so would take a few months to get match fit. It's why I'm generally against the free transfer market during a season. We already have enough players not match fit for one reason or another.
He got mentioned a couple of weeks ago on here, would be decent for the experience alone especially if we're pushing in Jan and he has a Solbauer-like effect on our lads. Not sure if he'd be willing to take a pay cut though, and unsure what % of the wages we'd be expected to pay if we managed on loan. Definitely would have him for a short term loan though.
He's a career mercenary footballer. Openly admits he'd have stayed here if we'd have made him a millionaire. Payday and home.
We can’t get him while January can we? By then Lopata will be back fit. I really liked Roberts & wish we would have been able to keep him but I don’t think it makes much sense.
Thats the same for every player who has, does or will ever play for us mate. Least hes honest about it then. Let's not kid ourselves otherwise. He always applied himself, and as long as that happens I'm fine with then being anything they want. Just a job to them
I was at the cricket in Bristol earlier this week with a Birmingham supporter (amongst others) He said that Robert’s had taken a pay cut when he signed a new contract. His view was that he is of limited ability but a good squad player. I can’t see him returning to Oakwell as we rarely take on older players except for loanees.
